I have a Norinco SKS that came with the Tapco kit pre installed when I bought it. I originally was going to mount a red dot on it, but I've been having more fun shooting with iron sights. Problem is that the gas tube has a picatinny rail on it, and for some reason, looking through the middle of that is making it hard for me to accurately acquire the front sight, I even switched to a higher visibility sight. Anyone know of a gas tube replacement (like the Tapco) that DOES NOT have a mounting rail on it? I've seen some handguard replacements, but I do not have the original gas tube, and there doesn't seem to be a way to take the current guard off (the pins appear melted at both ends).
