Hey guys,

I'm a legal California resident living in Boston for school, I'm going home for a couple of weeks and was planning on checking out New Hampshire before I head home.

I was wondering if I would be able to purchase a gun as a non resident of NH, but a legal resident of CA? if so could I walk out of the store with it? or would it have to be sent from NH to a CA FFL dealer for me to pick up in CA?

I'm talking about long guns specifically and not anything illegal by CA law like an AR or full capacity mags or anything of that nature...more like if theres a nice O/U that catches my eye and its a few hundred dollars less than what I'm used to back home.

Thanks :)

Any purchase would have to meet the laws of both the purchase state (NH), and the buyer's state of residence (CA), meaning if the dealer agreed to sell to you they would have to do a DROS on you and hold it for 10 days.

Since to my knowledge no dealer outside of CA has the capability to do a DROS, you can't buy directly from them. You can however buy and have them transfer to a dealer local to you in CA, and do the paperwork there.

Thanks man, I didn't know DROS was proprietary to CA.

That sucks, oh well. I'll just have to move when I'm done with school.
