Anyone know of a company selling decent vests that don't have all the pockets? My wife wouldn't be seen in public with me with all those pockets. I used to have something like that and she hated it when I wore it.

I really like the 5.11 vest but its ugly. It looks like the colors would fade too.

Something nice and long with perhaps just the big huge pockets on the front bottom.

The hidden pocket on the inside would be good but it would also be used to cover my OWB holster at 5 o'clock.

I have the classic from concealed carry. It's exactly what the name implies - classic. It's a heavy fabric, conceals a gun well, and has only two pockets. I would say that if you are over 6' tall you need to special order the vest a little longer. The models they show must be about 5'6"! And if you carry OWB the longer length is vital.

another okie makes a good point. Mine covers well for an IWB rig. I use a Kramer Belt Scabbard for a S&W J frame, but not with this vest. I'm 6' 1", and even this small holster will show when bending or getting up from a chair, etc. The critical difference, on mine, is about 1 1/2' to 2" in backseam length. Even the lightweight vest will give good cover for smaller guns in a shoulder rig, a good, flat crossdraw, or in a belly holster (about 1:00 O'Clock). The padded pockets obliterate any printing from anything they cover. I've carried a steel J frame in the pocket holster that comes with the vest, but the light vest sags too much for my liking, and the pocket can swing like a pendulum when you bend. This might not be so with the heavier material. They have changed the inner pockets, since I bought mine, but there are enough for a small flashlight, clip knife, checkbook, and the usual stuff you can't fit into the too-small-for-anything shirt pockets that come on todays shirts.

these vests are nice.

So when they say....

"We have designed the IP System primarily to accommodate pocket-sized pistols for short duration carry. We do not consider them a substitute for a quality holster firmly attached to your person."

this is a CYA correct?

I mean on of the values of this vest is that you can carry a handgun in the vest, right?
