Is 8mm or 7.92x57 the only ammo I can run in my Yugo m48 mauser? I know it's a silly question for you more experienced guys but I'm not very experienced! I've heard things about .303? Thanks guys!
303 British is a rimmed cartridge as opposed to the 8x57 which is a rimless cartride and wouldn't feed in your Yugo. Big difference in bullet dia as well 303 British dia is .311 8 mm Mauser dia .323.
If you are buying surplus ammo it might say 7'92 x57, using the comma instead of a decimal. Most of the commercial ammo in the store says 8x57 or 8mm Mauser.

And please only try to run that ammo...anything else could be quite unpleasant for you and the firearm. So 7.92x57, 8x57 and 8mm Mauser are all names for the same round which is correct and safe for your rifle.
