Noob question, good reloading supply place?

With price of ammo the way it is, I think this is the year I'm gonna start reloading.

I'm thinking about Lee Turret, and will reload 9mm, 380, 454 Casull, and 308 most likely.

I've been looking at Midwayusa for supplies and such, but I'd appreciate any recommendations on any other place to get supplies from, cheap. Thanks.

I'll second Powder Valley.

I'll also second Midsouth.

Midway's prices are sometimes higher, but selection sometimes better. I do not deal with them as much as Midsouth, but in my experience, if you need to order one small $10 item, they will send it priority mail for a couple of bucks, and many other places will use UPS so that the shipping exceeds the cost of the item.

Also my experience, no matter what you need, nobody seems to have every single item you want at any given time.

Midway's prices aren't bad, but their shipping for powder and primers is terrible. Because they store their powder and primers at two different locations (I have that in an email from a Midway associate) you pay a separate Hazmat charge even when they are on the same order. Plus they have an additional $9.99 charge for an order with powder or primers on it. So an order with powder and primers on it from Midway will incur a $49.99 additional shipping charge. The same order from Graf's or Powder Valley Inc. will only have the $20.00 Hazmat charge additional. I've also purchased from Widener's and Natchez with good results.

I purchase a lot of items from Midway. Just not powder or primers.

I personally recommend Midway--I use them quite frequently for hardware and other supplies. I try to pick up primers and powder locally to save on shipping.

I recommend looking for a dealer near you. You might save money on shipping charges that way. At least go to a few stores near you to check their prices and compare them to the cost of shipping-in powder and primers.

Midway is good for components other than powder and primers, as PCFlorida said. If you have a C&R FFL, or intend to get one, then Midway is even better. But for powder and primers, try a local source or Powder Valley.

Also, Brownell's carries lots of good stuff.

Unless you plan on buying lots and lots of powder and primers, the Haz-Mat Fee's will make the purchase more expensive than shopping locally. A pound of powder from Midway at $15 suddenly becomes $35 when you look at your bill.

Powder Valley gets a lot of recommendations, and from reviewing their prices I'd have to say it is well deserved UNLESS you live in Kansas. Kansas residents have to pay KS sales tax.

My powder/primer dealer of choice is Graf & Sons - prices are a little higher than Powder Valley but a whole lot less than my local gun shop. Graf&Sons charges a flat $4.50 S/H/Ins no matter how much your order total is. Moreover, if you're a bulk ordered, Graf & Sons will pay your HazMat fee for orders of 32 pounds or more of powder. (According to their current mailer, they have a special until 04/19/08 where they pay the HazMat fee for 20 pounds.)
