Well, I'm kinda curious just how stupid I was today.

I went to a local gunshow and saw a rather plain Norinco 1911A1 sitting on a table that kinda tickled my fancy. Turns out the guy wanted $375 for it, which is a bit more than I wanted to spend.

Now, thinking back, I decided to do a bit more research and see if I was incredibly lucky, or dumb-fool stupid and missed a good deal. So have at it.

Youhave chosen wisely, my son.

A Nork for $375... no way. I have seen very good condition ones sit at my local dealer for months at $250.

If it was new for $375.00, that was a good deal, not great, but certainly a good buy.

Nork's for $250.00 that don't sell? I have a hard time with this unless they are beat to hell and back. If in good condition, put them on Gunbroker and watch them disappear.

I had a very clean used one that shot as well as my Colts. No FTF or FTE and was accurate also. Sold it and wish I had kept it, as usual.

While it was in good shape, at least to my untrained eye, it was used. Someone had put pachmyer wraparound grips and an ambidextrous safety.

Incidentaly the dealer used those as sell points, and I was figuring out how much it'd cost to replace 'em with DD walnut grips and a GI/tab type safety.

I figured at that cost, it'd be better to go with a Springfield GI since that'd be closer to what I want. Besides, if I wanted to overspend my budget, two tables up there was a slicked down 19-4 4" for a touch under 400 *shrug*

Depending on the condition, if I came across a Nork for $375 I'd snatch it up. As Xavier said, the prices on these guns are slowly creeping higher.

I found a LNIB Norinco near me a few months ago for $300 and I snatched it up; IMO it was a screaming deal for an all-steel pistol with no MIM parts. I've kept it stock and it's been 100% reliable. I have to admit that I really like it, and I'm an unabashed 1911 snob of the highest order. :)

$375 for a "gently used" Norinco sounds OK to me , though if you can find a Springfield GI for $400 or so, that'd be a great choice also.

$300-350 would be a very good price for a un-molested Norinco 1911.

I've bought them in the past for $200-250, but those days are gone, most I see are $400-450 which is too much for me.

I paid $290 for my 95% Norinco last year, and there's an even nicer one in the local shop right now for $350. I am tempted to go all Last Man Standing and get it.
