I currently own two Norinco 97s
that I shoot Cowboy action with. They are the same basic gun as the trench gun without the heat shield and the bayonet lug. The two that I own and the others that I have owned in the past are great guns. If you have ever been to a Cowboy Action Match you realize how hard we work the shotguns when we shoot them. The best way to put it is they work and they work well. That is not to say that they can't stand some smithing, cause' they can, but the fact is that they are reliable right out of the box. The trench gun is very sharp to boot. To go a step further I will tell you that I have been thinking a lot about buying a Home Defense shotgun and, the more I think about it, I may just end up with a 97 in the bedroom closet along witha bandolier full of shotgun shells.
