"All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
Or something to that effect. If you are concerned about the apparant quality of the potential leaders we are bringing up then do something about it. Get active politically and work towards making yourself what you would consider to be a good leader. Strive to live up to your principles and ideals. You may not want to go into politics - I really think that most people best suited to do the job don't, but if you don't like how things are looking it is up to you to try and fix it. You (each individual citizen) has a vested right, and duty, to do the best that you can for this Republic.
You are the only person that you can really change. By all means try to teach others, but realize that they will not learn until they decide they want to. You can try every day to go to bed a better person than you were when you woke up, and you can try to help as much as you can with what ever problems you see - from emailing congress reps to organizing shoots to running for president. If you think there is a problem and you have an idea of how to fix it, then step up. If you are scared to do so, don't worry, so was every single other person who ever did anything worthwhile for freedom.
