North American Arms mini revolver

It's funny to see people knock them, right after Proud Boer posted his account of the shootout with thugs in South Africa with one a short while ago.

GaryP, don't you just love the Internet experts. :scrutiny:
Like you I have a few thousand rounds through my NAA's mini 22 Mags.

I agree with the last two. My shooting buddy has one and it is NOT accurate at all. I also found it slow to shoot because of the size and it being single action. Lots of better guns out their.

Actually, they can be very fast to shoot when you use the proper technique. Grasp the butt between the left thumb, hooking the index finger tight & high; then toggle the thumb & index finger of the right hand on the hammer / trigger. They were actually deigned for this use; It's why the hammer is so tall & no trigger guard exists. You can unload this little gun in 2-3 seconds. I sold mine because of a lack of any ballistic oomph from such a short barell. They are very well made, and kind of cool as a novelty.

If you can carry an NAA mini, you can carry a P-3AT or LCP. There's just no trade-off. The P3AT is a real gun.

Actually I carry both, my 22 Mag NAA and my P-3AT in different locations. I also have my S&W 411 in 40 S&W close by.

dogrunner,

Great post.

Same for other positive reviews and posts about these NAA Mini's.
Cops ain't the only ones liable to find themselves in the "onion field".

Personally, I like the .22 lr, with 1 1/8 barrel with the factory lanyard ring.
I go way back with one, as do others I worked with in a hi risk environment.
Add, in assisting folks as me and mine have done in private, we share some things.

i.e a lady pharmaceutical rep, that has practiced being over powered, her CCW taken, bound and gagged and tossed into the truck of her car.
She can break out of her trunk, and she can shoot that NAA with 1 1/8" barrel with her hands cuffed, zipped tied.
She wears it around her neck. We hope she never finds herself in this situation, and has a person atop her with rape as intent, still, she has Mindset, Skillsets and this Mini as part of her tools sets.

i.e. Physically Limited male restricted to a wheelchair.
Again, practiced plans after being toss out of that chair, and the fight going to ground.
He carries two CCWs, in addition to this Mini.
He has no use of his legs, and practices the "what if" for whatever reason, he cannot use one of his two CCWs.

Some folks will never be a target of some models of criminals. No offense, but they are simply not worth the time for what is gained.
Basically you are not worth them investing time in you for the payoff.

Some folks are in hi risk environments.

Onion Fields still exist and are a concern for some folks.

I need to get another one or two...
My loads were standard pressure , 40 gr, lrn.

sm brings up a very good point. A good demonstration of a NAA mini-type revolver being used as an emergency last resort gun was in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang when Val Kilmer's character was tied to a chair and had to...uh...shoot through his pants.

Some of my fingers also got powder on them.

You poor, poor man!

I can't recall shooting any revolver, ever, without getting powder on my fingeys. Try black powder sometime.:D

Anyway, I have the .22LR Mini and I've shot it with various ammo. Velocitors produce decent ballistics in the little things (relatively) and they do kick. By "kick" I mean that the little gun rotates up and around the one finger you have around the grips.

This makes it easy to cock, the way black powder revolvers were in the Civil War.

I can hit cans reliably with it at 10 paces. Don't expect to enter any NRA Bullseye matches with it, though.:)

While I wouldn't want to be shot with one, I wouldn't recommend using it for bear defense (which is apparently what everyone wants their next gun for, around here).

I'd recommend getting one, though I can't say why. I just like the thing (and I can carry it anywhere, so I don't feel like I'm wasting my CWL:D).

I definitely think that there is a place for a seriously concealable gun. Naturally it would be a compromise. I thought that the NAA might fit the bill. The problem is that in Canada the min barrel length is 4.1" (according to the website) which pretty much rules out any concealable handgun I've been able to find on the net. I guess that that's why they set it as the minimum.

A Black Widow, sure.

I have the regular short-barrel .22LR with standard wood one-finger derringer grips.

It is good on cans at 10 paces, though. It's not inaccurate; it's just difficult to hold consistently, has no rear sight, and a very short sight radius.

wow i have the 22lr
ive never taken it apart but it seems excellently made
i have the birdhead grip it is very loud for a 22 but doesnt jump out of my hand at all
they are difficult to aim well
of all my guns it attracts the most attention when i let friends see my guns

Doesn't jump out of my hand, either, even with the hottest loads I can get in .22LR. It does, however, rotate up around the one finger I hold it with, when it recoils.:)

with bird head i get half of second finger on mine doesnt break grip at all
anyone ever used the sss 60gr in theirs?

I wouldn't carry one of these alone, but I might keep one in my pocket as a back up gun. I think these are great for carrying around my own property during summer though. Just pop it in my pocket and its there if I happen to need it.

Because of the one inch barrel, they are VERY LOUD and JUMP out of your hand.

We have a 22lr, sold the magnum cause it was too much to hold onto, EVERYONE that shot the magnum dropped it.

Not even my wife has problems like mentioned above.

I carry one or two whenever I can't carry other things.

They are very easy to conceal

And the first shot is pretty quick. I carry mine with stingers and the recoil rolls it almost 90 degrees with each shot. So, make sure your first shot counts. They are a neat last ditch weapon and novelty, but I think the Magnum/Widow version is a bit more realistic for SD.

Come on, that sounds like a BS story to me. My wife and son shot my mini 22 Mag. My son was shooting it when he was 12 and never dropped it.

It is better than no gun. It makes a real load bang so the bg thinks it a lot bigger then it is. If that don't work the bg will die of a heart attack laughing so hard.

The little guns have excellent fit and finish.

I'm not sure what I'll do with mine, but I like it.:)

Hay James Bond :barf: I bet you a million bucks you would never let anyone shoot you with a 22 Mag from one of them mini's

I'm glad I bought one...just to have it. Mine is .22LR with the 1 1/8" barrel.
I have the same shooting experience as some others here; it rotates upward around my finger. So I have to adjust my grip slightly with each shot.
It does have it's uses however as an uber-concealable gun. It is by far smaller than either my Kel-Tec P3AT or P32 and can be comfortably stashed places all of my many pocket pistols cannot.
Plus...they are just so damn cool looking ;)
