I'm nearly complete in the process of becoming a member and can tell you this is a GREAT club with great members. Don't miss a chance to get in on this!

Harley,

Hope to see you at the range, are you a shotgunner?

Not as much as I used to be but yes. Im only 24 and when I turned 21 I went right for the pistols...Are you interviewing tonight???...

Did that already during the first open house this summer. Was out of town for awhile and the only thing left for me is the intro at the general meet 9/25, $, and getting ID access card and key. Matt F. is my sponsor.

I also have about 250 rounds of practice .38 spl that's burning a hole in my ammo can, so maybe I'll see you at pistol range.:D

From what I have been able to find out, it is ~$600 the first year and ~$300/yr after that. I would be interested, but not at those prices. A bit much for my budget.

Is that still accurate?

That being said, I am registered for the CMP shooting clinic next weekend in Sugar Grove.

What is going to happen at the old location, once the new one is done?

No!

Initially- $25.00 application fee, $421.00 due at time of membership, of this $315.00 is one time initiation fee and balance of $131.00 for 2008 annual dues. Also required 10 hours of labor with work parties during first year of membership.

When you look at the new facilities under construction you won't have any problem justifying the expense. If Chicago lands the Olympic games the new facility will host shooting events.

I can refer membership questions to [email protected]. Other members will likely notice this post and chime in. The President is a frequenter of this board at least.

I received this reply, emailing the president of the club late July this year:

The annual dues ar $315 (the $25 application is applied to your first year dues) There is a one initiation fee of 1x the annual dues or $315 the first year. So the total for the first year is $630 and $315 for each year after that (annual rate may change).

that is correct, proration. the Sugar Grove facility is going to used for what ever the buyer decides. I would like to see stay as a nature center of sorts but who knows...

I did go there today for the CMP clinic (wanted to shoot my M1), and I have to say that everyone there was great. Not a bad apple amongst them.

Of course, I was in the first shoot, they might have gotten testy by the time the third one rolled around. :)

<---Also known as President of ASC.

Yep, the dues are prorated. Glad to hear you enjoyed the CMP Clinic. As Marty our CMP chairman says. "If you had a good time, tell your friends. If not, tell me."

Nahh, we take pretty good care of our volunteers, by the third relay, we've feed 'em a hot lunch and kept 'em hydrated. So they're pretty happy all day. They enjoy teaching and helping people develop their shooting skills. Like most gunnies, the membership is friendly and helpful (and sometimes "too helpful", if you know what I mean.) For most of us ASC is like a second home and our fellow members are our extended family.

It's up for sale. Sugar Grove doesn't want us there anymore (we've only been there since 1948), hence the reason for the development of our new facility out at Waterman.

Hope to see you back again sometime, maybe even as new member. ;)
