Hey, I step aside for a few days and all of a sudden people take notice!!!!

Glad to see this idea start to take hold.

I can't make the 9th (its my wife's birthday). I might be able to make the 10th, but was also thinking that maybe we should try for Sunday afternoon - post Gun Show - at the NRA.

One night the following week might also work

Excellent! Looks like we're on for Wednesday (the 9th) at the NRA range at ~6:15-6:30PM (this should give folks coming from work enough time to get there). So far, we've got Dev, hightech & friend, Chris Rhines & myself. Anyone unable to respond yet is certainly still welcome. Just drop one of us a PM so we know to expect more folks. BTW, if folks still want to meet-up the following Wednesday (the 16th) then I am most definitely up for it. Look forward to meeting you all! :)

Hi there Countertop,

Sorry for hijacking your thread! Like I said, I am definitely game for a post-show shoot. We had a couple folks interested for Wednesday the 16th but that Sunday might work as well.

As for next week's Chantilly show, I won't be in town to catch it. :(

VA SHOOT & EAT

If you want to get something to eat afterward I usally stop at Hooters.
Hooters is about 5 minutes away on Rt 29.
Open carry is good there.

KONY,

Hijack away. Enjoy the shoot - and the wings

I'd really get introuble if I ditched the wifes birthday to go shooting and visit the h:what:ters girls

Counter,

Thanks for your blessings! Really hope you can make it out next time.

Speaking of next time, I am not sure if anyone wants to do the 16th as well. If not, we should at least try to follow-up to make this at least a monthly get-together.

As for tomorrow's shoot, I will bringing my WHOLE collection! ... that's right, I'll be bringing not one ... but TWO guns!

dghboy315,

Sorry! ... but what better way to ring in the New Year than putting some downrange! Heck, just bring some pieces made in China if you really want to go all-out in your celebration!

I'm visiting in Falls Church this week and just happened to tuck a pistol in the car. If I can break away, It would be nice to meet some of the VA gang. I'll post tomorrow and indicate if I can make it or not.

I've shot at NRA lots in the past, but how crowded is it on a week night?

Birthday Celibration

Countertop. What a gift for you wife. A night out shooting at the NRA, best range in NVA, and dinner with good friends.

usp_fan,

Good thinking on the pistol. We'd love to have you join us. Let one of us know if you need help getting to the range. If you're in Falls Church, getting to the NRA range should be as easy as hopping on the 66 West and getting off at Exit 57 towards Fairfax. Continue straight and hang a left on Waples Mill (first light, I think) and the NRA HQ will be on your right. Just enter the parking garage and signs will point you to the range entrance.

As far as crowds go, I honestly don't know as the NRA is not a range I attend regularly. However, should be (hopefully) less crowded on a Wednesday night. In any event, hope to see you there. If not, enjoy your stay in NoVA and look us up next time. Good shooting!

Wed night shouldn't be too bad this time of year. Of course, it could prove me wrong if the rest of NVa has the same plans as you. :D

Chris

It looks like there is a good chance I can make it to join the NoVa group. How will I recognize you guys?

Also, is there a good place to pick up inexpensive .45acp range ammo nearby? I know they sell some at the range, can I expect a fair price or should I shop before I come?

Thanks,

Hey guys, good luck at the range tonite. I'll be thinking about you while at dinner.

USP - The prices at the NRA range aren't horrible, but you can certainly do better. If you go one exit further west on I66 there are two great places to buy ammo - Wal Mart and Galyans.

I know Wal Mart is still there (get off at exit, make left at First light, follow traffic and look for signs on the left) but Galyans recently became Dicks (First light, make a right, then the next right) and I don't know if they still sell ammo. They used to do cases for $95.

You could also drive down Route 50 about 5 miles to Blue Ridge Arsenal, but they charge $20 a box. Ouch!!!

Hope you guys don't mind one more; I didn't want to respond until I was sure I could show.....I just determined a few minutes ago that I could go with the blessing of my social director however :)

I'll bring 2 1911's, and will wear a black USMC hat.

(Another) Chris

That was great guys. Thanks for including an out of towner and sharing your ammo and targets.

I'll let you know next time I'm in town. I'll try to plan better and bring some toys to return the favor.

It was some much needed stress relief and a perfect break from the situation that brought us out this way.

Thanks again,

usp_fan (Reeve)

Reeve, thanks for joining us tonight! Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay and definitely look us up again. I will do the same if I am ever in your neck of the woods.

Cebralfix, sorry you didn't get a chance to come out with us. However, I think we are going to try to make this a regular (at least monthly) event. The range did not seem crowded tonight so perhaps we should continue to plan for weeknights.

As for funny coincidences, two gentlemen (hightech & friend) actually turned out to be folks I know! :what:

Reeve, Chris, Bert & Rudy ... thanks for making this shoot happen. Shot .45 for the first time today and I see a 1911 in my future! :D Also, had the pleasure of sampling a sweet S&W Model 19. It is just too bad that my poor shooting could not do these firearms justice.

This was my second time at the NRA range and I am ready to sign-up for a course of how to work the lane computers. I just could not get my target downrange without help! :banghead: Luckily, I fiigured it out with a little help from my friends (Beatles, anyone?) :p

We have toyed around with the idea of shooting next Wednesday (16th). If folks still want to, I am definitely in. If not, we'll regroup and propose a better day. Feels really good to get out and meet fellow shooters.

Next Wednsday sounds fine.

Arrrgggh. Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays are bad. Tuesday, Thursday, and weekends (when I'm in town) are good. :)

You guys don't want me there do you? This is some sort of conspiracy to keep me away. :scrutiny: :D

Chris

Chris,

We will work something out. Well, I guess there is a reason the ranges are crowded on the weekend! :p

I can do a Tuesday or Thursday evening. Who else can do this? Just toss out a day and we'll see if it sticks.
