Northern Virginia Shoot?

Luke; I'd try a new magazine. You can grab them off gunbroker fairly cheap. Get a few at a time to alleviate some of the shipping costs.

Dave, tried a new mag already (thanks to Virginia Arms) and no dice ... mag stayed in for a bit but started dropping again shortly thereafter! :banghead: I really don't want to send this in to Browning but taking this thing apart further than field stripping it doesn't sound so good either. :(

It might help to have an 'identifier' so that we are able to tell who's "in". The range being crowded and all... You know... something like ... a hat with a propeller on top ok... maybe not. Baseball hat?

Ummm ... just ordered a Steyrtalk ball cap a while ago, if it comes in then I'll be wearing that.

So, I'll know you folks by the frontsight imprints in your foreheads?

LoL ... exactly why I won't shoot it. Will be difficult to explain "500 forehead" to the folks at work. :D

Are you possibly and inadvertently gripping the mag release button?

Next time we're at BRA, we can pull the grips on both ( mine & Your ) Buckmarks to see if we can observe a defect.

Thought about that too but Rudy shot mine and he experienced the same thing.

Excellent! Two pairs of eyes in case stuff goes flying.

I should be able to make it. I now have a holster for my model 19 and can now pack magnum heat. Defiantly need to practice my drawing.

I hope you're joking

My NRA class instructor said that wheelguns were mostly for women, and first time shooters.

[SS] I sincerely hope that you either are misquoting, or are joking ( no emoticons, so I am assuming seriousness ).

If not, then your instructor did you a disservice. Not that there aren't some elements of truth to wheelguns being a good choice for first time shooters, or shooters who may not get as much regular practice. They are simpler, more reliable and have a broader range than semis all things being equal.

If they are mostly for women then we'll have to remember that revolvers are a "good way to meet women" at the range then :p

There's really only one way to find out. I'm going to have to buy my wife a revolver and see if she prefers it to the semi. :neener:

Magnum Force

Real men carry wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel guns. Others just revolvers and pistols. How about a new TV show called MAGNUM FORCE. Visualize what happens to the bad guy in the last five minutes of the show. :uhoh:

You guys still headed to NRA on wednesday?

What they said. :D

The earlier, the better IMO; I got there at 1800 last time, and there were lanes open. by 1830, there was a wait.

I will verify this info.

My NRA class instructor said that wheelguns were mostly for women, and first time shooters.

:what:  Ooh boy, not touching this one! Thankfully, some NRA instructors have already chimed-in with appropriate responses (very tactfully, I might add!). :p

Then he's an idiot and has invalidated himself as an instructor.

This is probably what Smurfslayer and hightech really wanted to say. :D

Real men carry wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel guns.

Exactly what I keep telling the SWMBO but I still don't own one! :(

"Dirty" Harry Callahan

wouldn't be caught dead holding a candy @ss semi-auto :neener: unless he'd just pulled it off a dead perp.. Yeah, I know, he played around with the automag, but came home to the '29.

If you think wheelguns are for beginners, I've got 500 S&W that says otherwise. Very loudly

There's a host of reasons that wheelguns are still with us, but chief among them: They just work.

I know who you all are from your screen names, but you don't know me. I get to yank your chain until you figure it out.

Ummm ... well, I guess we'll have to find out on Wednesday. I thought I knew who you were but my buddy denied it. :scrutiny:

Tenifer coated sissy pistols!

Hey now, IIRC, Tenifer is a metal treatment, not a coating ... but I do not have an answer for the sissy statement. Speaking of which, has there been any reports of a Glock-o-phile naming their daughter "Tenifer"? It's bound to happen. Just imagine, MTV eagerly announcing a new video by Tenifer Lopez! :neener: :p :D

Well, back to business. You all know that I am having issues with my Buck Mark. Well, here's an update I posted in rimfirecentral's Browning forum:

"Update: Well, I (meaning my friend!) took this thing apart at the range on Friday and before popping it open, I tried my buddies' Buck Mark mags (no issues in his pistol) and sure enough they BOTh popped out on the 8th and 9th rounds! Very discouraging but at least I eliminated the mag and the shooter as potential issues.

After the shooting session, we popped it open and nothing seemed worn but the magazine latch spring seemed to be "out-of-place". Not much time to carefully go over everything so we put it back together and I went home. Since nothing flew-out when we popped it open, I pulled off the grip again myself last night to have another look. Seems like you were right, part_time. The latch spring was not seated in its little recessed cut-out. I went ahead and seated it correctly (bending it toward to magazine latch). The latch spring itself was bent in a couple areas along the end of it (again seemed alright but could be bent too much??). I put it back together and will test it out on Wednesday to see if this fixed it and report back."

Well, thanks for your help, Dave. I am hoping that this latch spring fix will solve my problems. We'll find out in a couple days, I guess.

Speaking of Wednesday, I just received my Steyr gear so if you don't know me, look out for the fellow wearing a blue Steyrtalk.com ball cap with a big set of red & yellow trapazoidal sights upfront! Ahh, I love being gaudy!
