Im going to VA Arms to get my Ameriglos installed today. If youre there just look for a young bald hispanic guy. Going to check out an FN FAL while Im there too, if they have one that is.

XD40,

Won't be able to get in there today as I got too much going on. However, let me know if they still have the CZ P-01 in stock.

After you get those sights installed, you need to come out with us to shoot on Friday nights ... or at the very least the next NoVA shoot (coming soon I hope).

Oops I already went there and I just read your post right now. Sorry. But I couldnt get my sights installed because they said something about the front sight on my XD being too difficult. I wanted to get the rear installed because it was off my 1mm but I didnt think of it until I came home :( . Know anywhere else I can get them installed?

Well, I guess this is a job for a 'smith. Dominion Arms in Manassas has a 'smith, IIRC, but not sure if they are any good. The only 'smith I've heard that is highly recommended is Sandy Garrett (sic?) at Northern Virginia Gunworks in Springfield. Look 'em up and give' em a call to see if they can help so you can save a trip. I do know this 'smith is nationally known but I never had anything done with him (or any 'smith for that matter).

I took my 1898 Krag to Sandy because it was occasionally firing on working the bolt (sear wasn't holding) and he fixed it quickly, inexpensively, and efficiently.

I'm still planning on joining y'all at the range one of these days, if I can ever work out the timing.

Nva Gunworks

I have taken my S&W 41 to NVA Gunworks and the work was great. I highly recommend them. I do not know if they work on SA though.

I'll probably take it to Dominion just to see what they say. Been there before and it seems like they know somewhat what theyre doing. Plus I heard Sandy is a bit of a gruff on the manners :p

NRA range 3/16/05

I'm the guy 'thinking' about the 4" 500. I'm no longer thinking about buying, I'm thinking about handloads! I plan to be testing my 500 grain JSP loads :what: Wed evening at the NRA range along with some various factory loads. I'll also have some... lesser magnums on the menu...

I'm going to try for 6:30 PM ...

"Pardon my muzzle blast... It's the sound of Freedom!"

Well, looks like we've got another NoVA shoot on our hands. I'm in for Wednesday at 6:30PM. Who else can make it? Great chance to see how other members shoot once Dave starts unloading the 500.

As for the NRA, I called them today to ask about getting their Eddie Eagle program materials for my son. I think it costs $10-$15 if you order but a nice lady there left a packet for me at the front desk for nothing! Very nice info in there. I'm going to watch the video (only 7 minutes) with my son soon and see what its all about.

FNG member Gordon - aka "the Black Turban" has also indicated possible attendance. This could involve one of any of the following - .454 Casull, 45/70 BFR, 500 s&w and many more. If you can shoot with all that noise going on, you have skills ! :D

I'll see what I can do. Wednesday night is 'skate night' for me but that may change. Now I don't wanna go to the range and not know anybody again...

You guys need to get a Thursday night NRA shoot organized. Weds are very bad for me.

Chris,

Wednesday evenings work better for me but I could do a Thursday with some advance notice. Tomorrow's "Flame-throwin' Magnum Bonanza" was organized on fairly short notice but we should be having another NoVA shoot in 2-3 weeks. If more folks think Thursday is better then we can switch it up.

3rd Thursdays are VCDL meetings in NoVa!

so don't make it the 3rd Thursday. My wife likes the trip to Fuddruckers afterwards...

This March "Magnum Madness" is brought to you by shooters who need to go to a range with more "common sense" caliber limits ;)

Flame throwin'...

Uh...huhuh... huh... Fire is COOL!... Hah....

oops ... looks like getting together on the 3rd Thursday of the month is a no-go. However, I am sensing a sweet schedule developing here. How about doing 2 NoVA shoots per month? What two days you ask? Well, we could do the 2nd Thursday and 4th Wednesday of each month!!! I think this would work out for the vast majority of us. Of course not everyone will be able to attend both but we would probably still get a good group for each one. Questions, comments, concerns??

I would certainly like to do two NOVA meets a month. Ironically I'm probably moving to Winchester soon but may attend anyway...just because.

Wow, big move! Best of luck with that. Would be great to still have you out with us. Never been to Winchester myself but know some fine folks that are from there.

SCHEDULE FOR nva

I thought we were doing the 2nd Wed of the month now. I could go also for the 4th Wed. Third [3rd] Thur is out for me, BoD meeting that day each month. Thur in general are bad because I also prep for classes that are on Sat.

Well, one Wednesday per month has been pretty consistent but I don't think we all decided what Wednesday that will be (1st through 4th). IIRC, several forum members requested a Thursday evening so I figured we'd space the two shoots by 2 weeks. That would mean that our schedules would be either the 1st and 3rd week or the 2nd and 4th week of the month. So far, our only restriction is that 3rd Thursdays are out due to VCDL. I know not everyone goes to those but I feel that it is important that our shoots do not conflict with these important gatherings. Any other thoughts on this?
