found this original USA made NOS RCBS 1010 at a LGS. For the price I wasn't going to walk out the door without it.

I looked forever for my original 1010, finally found one used but complete on Ebay for about $80 10 years ago, then I find this dusty relic sitting on the shelf. I'm glad to have a backup but now i'm wondering... what has happened in the mechanical scale world in the last 10 years since I was looking for one?
Anything significant enough that I should consider selling this backup 1010 and upgrading to something new?

What has happened in the last 10 years is the scales have been outsourced to China and thusly built to looser tolerances with often inferior materials. There are reports of the knife blades being assembled crooked and just shoddy workmanship in general. Some will say the newer electronic scales are better but I feel that gravity will always work with no need for batteries and these balance types are more stable.

No reason to sell that scale, with a good cleaning and tune up they are amazingly accurate. I can buy any scale I want but prefer these older scales for the quality loads produced.

I have 2 of the RCBS 5 0 5 scales, I’ve had them for at least 20 years, I still use them, they are SO reliable.

That looks like a good buy - and I really don't doubt that it was made in USA - however, the only way to really tell is to turn the box over - in small print it will actually say country of manufacture. I would guess that RCBS 10/10's were outsourced to China/Mexico more that 10 years ago now.
The 10/10 is usually a good reliable scale - get yourself a set of grain checkweights for peace of mind.
