Not just another crime shooting story

LYNNE RUSSELL - " ... 3. You can't control everything; but if it makes you feel better, go with a simple law preventing violent offenders from buying firearms."

And therein is the rub. Violent offenders don't go to gun stores to legally buy their guns. They either steal them, buy them from another criminal who has stolen one, borrowed one from a forbidden possessor, or found someone who will sell them one "under the table."

What law could be passed that prevented criminals from buying guns, that would not be an infringement of an honest person's Right to Keep and Bear Arms?

Universal Background Checks for which the left wing bliss ninnies incessantly crusade?? That is also Universal Registration of all firearms in the hands of the honest "worker peasants."

Yeah, right, criminals will surely obey a law regarding Universal Background Checks.

Glad Russell and her husband won the day. Her solution however, is flawed.

the police report states that they had to keep the husband from kicking the dead criminal in the parking lot. the old man had three bullet holes in him and still wanted to give the criminal the what for. not very high road I know, but I like him even more for that.

He didn't expect Chuck to open the bathroom door. My husband (Air Force Academy, U.S. Army Special Forces), said "What's going on here?" and advanced into the room. Stark naked and dripping wet, he maneuvered himself in front of the small table between the beds, concealing two small .380 legal handguns we'd brought in from the car.
You gotta respect a man that is willing to get into a gunfight naked. :what:

Seriously, though, the take-away lesson: Nobody who is involved in an honest-to-God SD shooting gets to choose the time or place.

That's my take away from her comments, I think she is saying keep your hands off the good guys and their guns.

^New Mexico has become somewhat blue. Democrats have won 5 of the last 6 Presidential elections. See this chart.

New Mexico joined the Union in January 1912. It has participated in 26 presidential elections through 2012, with the results split almost down the middle; 14 for Democrats, 12 for Republicans. However, Democrats have now won 5 of the last 6 elections. This shift is at least partially due to the increasing support of the Democratic party by Latinos in recent years. Whichever party they’ve chosen, New Mexico voters have been remarkably good at siding with the winning candidate, only getting it wrong in 1976 (Gerald Ford) and 2000 (George W. Bush). In 2012, Barack Obama defeated Mitt Romney by 53% to 43%.

Good gun laws though.

She describes him as a "crack shot" ..... which I find somewhat amusing... One between the eyes would fit that description....

He may be, as may be you. But, being under duress (active fight), naked and dripping wet, shot already, and wielding a small .380, might hinder your usually-stellar performance, dontcha think..?

How much do you want to bet that the anchor wasn't carrying Federal 9BPLE in his gun? Jeez. Shot the guy with all the rounds in his gun then picked up the bad guys gun and shot him with it, too. Bad guy just wouldn't drop. Sounds like 380ACP at work here.
I believe it was a .40.

Nope, correction--- just read the above....380.

If I remember right, DeCaro was hit three times by the BG's .40. Imressive that DeCaro was enough of a beast to take those hits, and still stop the fight. Did I read that he used the BG's .40 for the final rounds exchanged? If that's the case, then it really begs questioning the effectiveness of the .380.

I've not followed this super close or read this entire thread, so forgive my ignorance if I have this wrong, but if he did use the BG's gun for the final rounds, would that not suggest the BG was unarmed at that point? If so, I'm afraid this brave couple could be hearing from the BG's family soon.

I'm willing to bet those .40 caliber rounds were FMJ.. not too many street thugs shop around for the "high-tech" stuff..

The .380 rounds may have been as well.
