Does anyone of you have any opinion on either one of this? I'm new at this o/u shotgun and am interested in getting into clay shoot.

I'm looking for a 12ga, or 20ga O/U for clay shooting. They look pretty much the same. If they are good quality/value, I will try them.

Big5 has Khan on sale a couple of weeks ago for $399, normally $449, I think. Another place has Izh 27 for $439.

Both prices are not bad, consider they are a O/U. One thing I notice is Khan in 20ga weight 6.0lb, whereas the Izh weights at 7+lb. May be the lighter gun is better, yes? The 12ga's weight about the same.

The spec for both guns are pretty much the same too. Single select trigger, basic blue with wood stock.

There are also 26" v.s. 28". Which one is better for which application?

TIA,

-Pat

These may work well as field guns, I dunno. There's little I hear about either.

Clay guns need to be built super strong. Typically, a clays shooter will go through thousands of rounds every year. Some guns that would last generations as hunting arms will fold in a season of average clay shooting.

I suggest....

If this is to be a first shotgun, get a repeater like a Big Four pump or one of the better autos out there.

If you have a good repeater already, save up until you can pick up a used name brand O/U.

HTH...

I agree with Dave.

If first gun get a Big 4 repeater. A search will also reveal problems with some lesser know brands and problems with parts and service. Denny Hansen posted not long ago that used police models going for ( IIRC) $160. 870 Express ( word is depending on whatt part of the country) ~ $219. Or a used BIG 4 pump well under the prices for what those in you original post sell for. These will outlast you, your kids...

Now if you have a good repeater that FITS you , and gotta itch for a O/U or SxS, Finding an older American made SXS model Stevens 311 is the ticket. In O/U wait, save more monies and look for a good used, or after holiday special on a O/U...if they sell it, they don't have to inventory it before the first of the year. :)

You may find a deal on one because someone tapped the credit cards pretty heavy...see how my mind works?

Forget exactly how it goes and the author...

Dave, Thanks !

I must have juggled that brain cell loose in recoil somewhere along the way.

OH yes, true indeed. I've seen it first hand in a former business...heck in everything all through my lifetime. Makes me stop to think before I plunk down monies on anything.

pbhome71,

Have you checked out the Lanbers? They're a popular entry level O/U in Europe. There are usually a few of them on Gunbroker.com or other gun auction sites.
