All of the below is true & verifiable.

My son is a veteran & is now in his early 20's & going to college. He served in the 'Old Guard' of the Army & had a presidential access clearence. Earlier this year he worked as a night relief manager at the local theater chain. Part of his responsibilities were to frequently make the night deposits. This is a typical min-wage, high-turnover, kid job operation.

An employee was fired & because of the circumstances, money missing & personal relations, the theater manager was able to get another employee to wear a mini-recorder & talk to the recently fired person. The kid wearing the tape took it to the police instead of back to the manager. The police then took the tape to the manager. Because on the tape, the fired employee talked about robbing the theater, with his sawed-off shotgun. How he'd shoot anybody, like my son, that he felt like shooting etc. So, the cops pull him in & the kid tells them that he's got the shotgun in the car. And he did.

My son's request for a carry permit cleared in record time.

Then, just last week, we have a kid in high school deliberately run down a lady jogger with the Bronco he was driving. So he could kill her & have sex with her corpse. He had a passenger in the vehicle, who jumped out & ran to the nearest phone & called the cops.

It looks like the lady is going to live, & the little b@stard who was driving told the cops exactly what he wanted to do. So hopefully, this one is a slam dunk.

And I won't even start on the Bar-Jonah case.

And liberals wonder why we want a carry permit. It can't happen here! B-S!!

Okay I had never herd of the case you mention until today....

I looked it up and if you have the stomach for it a pretty good link is as follows: http://www.greatfallstribune.com/news/thebarjonahcase/

What I loved was the "cannibals section": where the stupid shrinks try to excuse this behavior in a number of creative ways including early infant weaning trauma "the child wants to devour the mother".

What a load of SH....aving cream.....

And liberals wonder why we want a carry permit.

No, they don't wonder why we keep and bear arms. They know precisely why—and also know they'll never advance their socialist cause as long as free American citizens are still able to: a.) defend ourselves, and b.) shoot back at them.

Montana got California in the 70's and populated by Yuppies buying the lifestyle in the 90's.
No meaningful employment. Restricted access to the outdoors. Dog unfriendly. Full of activist deadbeats. Fish and wildlife problems.
It will never again be "the last best place".

I still love Montana

Still go there all the time. Around Billings its still very much gun friendly territory. At least from my experience. And damn...it is some beautifull country.

Fella's;

Montana has a 'shall issue' at the discretion of the county sherriff. Not a big deal to get one, in the county I'm in. However, as was noted in an earlier reply, portions of Montana have become California - Missoula and the Bitterroot valley in particular. Those sherriffs, if they want to get reelected, listen to the loudest voices. It's a variable situation across the state.

Standing Wolf, yes I generalized by using the catch-all 'liberals'. But please keep in mind that they come in several varieties. I was mainly speaking of the willing sheeple. There are the educated idiots, most of them 'teaching' our youth in institutions of higher learning. There are the public liberals such as Teddy Kennedy, who can't think for themselves, but make policy that's put forth for them to pass off as their own. There are the young thinkers that frequently appear as aides to the public liberals. And there are the true liberal policy makers, who almost never have a public face. However, they have a deep seated & long standing interest in the public money. From which, they garner most of their private money. The senior Kennedy would be perhaps the most widely known example of the genre. With Turner occupying the position in the present.

OK, before we get all gung-ho to paint Missoula, the Bitteroot and the rest of the 90/93 roadline red let me just say this...

There may be liberals here... but it is not anything like OR, WA, CA, or any of a dozen east coast states.

I am a Portland Oregon transplant and am here to say there is almost no similarity.

My CCW processed in 2 weeks from app submission to in hand. It took 2 months in PDX

If there is a problem in Missoula it is Reserve St at 4pm.

Liberals, sure. Red, not hardly.

Regarding the Bar-Jonah case...
"It is our intention that Mr. Bar-Jonah never walks the streets again."
I would have thought that in 1975 he would have been prevented from walking the streets. What a low-life POS this guy is. How do people get this f'd up?

I'm with Toby, how can anyone say that Montana is "California" or populated by Yuppies? ***? Sorry, can't agree with that at all and I live in the Bozone, second only to Missoula as a "liberal" city in Montana.

Ole' Mr. Bar-Jonah is a flippin' fruitcake in need of a serious butt-whipping, and so is the good Dr. who says babies fantasize about eating their mothers. Just how did he figure this out? By interviewing 8-month olds?

Sorry to hear about the decline of MT as of late. I spent a total of 5 years there, between '78 and '84. Skipping class to go on hunting trips with my dad west of Great Falls will always remain some of my fondest memories. He was stationed at Malmstrom as a Facility Manager of the nuke launch sites, and as such, made friends with most, if not all, of the ranchers in the surrounding area. Those ranchers were kind enough to allow us to hunt there land numerous times. Of course I was but a young lad, so my memories don't include the local political climate, but I do remember it being quite friendly to outdoorsmen.

You have it better than you think. If we didn't have state-wide pre-emption here in PA, I'd be under a 6-round magazine limit (not a misprint!) by living in Philadelphia.

Last time I was in Montana was a trip to Glacier National Park in 1999. Driving the rental car from Great Falls to the Park, the radio announcers were reading classified ads on the air -- and there were a lot of guns in the ads! You will NOT find any radio announcers in Philly saying "Remington 700BDL, excellent condition, .30-06 Springfield ....".

Montana is truly beautiful country. I wish I could go back to GNP but my camping buddy got hitched (read = no more camping) and going into bear country alone is an iffy proposition.

Missoula is rotten with socialists. 'Evironmental' activists, homosexuals, yuppies...they got 'em all. Which is why I don't go there if I can avoid it. Like Toby said, Reserve St. at 4PM (or 2pm or....most anytime) is just like any big city. Which is where you will always find socialist / leftist extremist types. Not often do you find many of them in rural areas.

South down the Bitterroot...well, Darby isn't really what I would call liberal. Tell people you are a Darbarian and see what response you get.

My county is very gun-friendly....lotta rifle racks in pickups. I shoot off my porch. 'Most any gun shop has evil black rifles, complete with semiautomatic bayonets. When I open carry my 'hogleg' Blackhawk .44 nobody has ever said much.....other than " I like those grips...."

The math confuses me...

My son is a veteran & is now in his early 20's & going to college. He served in the 'Old Guard' of the Army & had a presidential access clearence.

He's done an awful lot of livin' for being in his 20's! ;)

Gewehr98;

What's confusing you? 'The Old Guard' is a unit name, has nothing to do with how long anything took, was, or began. He joined the Army straight out of high school, did a four year hitch & is now a college student under 25. See, that's not hard.

Read the big letters: PORTIONS, of Montana have become California.

All requests for concealed carry go through the county sherriff in Montana. If he sees 'justifiable' reason for you not to get one, it's a long hard road, uphill, in the dark all the way, to buck him. The NRA lists Montana as a shall-issue state, so does www.packing.org I believe. And theoretically you are as liable or free from prosecution as a politically powerful politician, lately of Washington DC. All cats are gray in the dark, and everybody is equal because that's the politically correct way to think.

But Carl Lewis can outrun me any day of the week.

I just got back from Montana about an hour ago. I missed the salmon fly hatch on The Big Hole by a couple days.

An awful lot of that country has been purchased by millionaires, subdivided or in some other way ruined. One of the great shames of all time.

I moved to Billings last April and while it is beautiful country especially the western part of the state, I must say that work is sparce and opportunities are limited in my field unless your in construction or cattle ranching.
We've been as far west as Elmo on the west side of Flathead, beautiful. But aviation opportunities and advancement is very limited.
So with much goading and prompting I believe we'll be fixin' to depart outbound back to her hometown of Memphis, TN shortly.
I like money, money is good, no money......baaad.
