Has anyone ever tried the PS6 holster from Mernickle Leather? That's one heckuva high ride. From the looks of it, it wouldn't take a super long cover garment to hide it, almost iwb-ish, rather than the typical oversized thing associated with most owb rigs. Need a stiff belt to keep it from tipping, though.

I have known of similar (but different) high-riding holsters that were worn cross-draw and had a clam-shell pouch with an open seam so that the gun could be rocked out. The pouch was mounted on a plate, which was worn inside the waist band. Because of the plate arrangement there wasn't much tipping. If I was going to wear this rig I would run the belt outside the pouch, as I could see where there could be some outward tipping.

You are absolutely right about the need for a good belt.

Thats as high as Ive ever seen.......

The thing you need to take into account is why the hell would anyone need anything that high? If you have no arm length and an extreeeeeeemmmmeeelly long torso then it might work for you.

If I tried that thing.....I couldnt put my arms down to my side.

I love the detail work on the leather.........they do a wonderful job.

Shoot well and god bless

You know, I think that might work well for some women, although I'd have concerns about drawstroke difficulty. I personally couldn't use it, as I have shoulder flexibility issues -- but absent that problem, it sure looks like a comfortable way to avoid the hip flare problem.

Basically positions the gun as if in a vertical shoulder holster, but without the visible-strap issues that shoulder holsters can have.

Hmmm.

I had one for a Officer's Model 1911.. due to the short barrel it felt top heavy, and it had a tendency to want to roll out away from my body.

The holster has a "secret" paddle that slips inside your belt or waistband to help stabilize the gun, but even with a good gun belt, I always felt the need to "contain" the gun by clamping my arm against it to keep it from tipping out.

I suspect with a longer barreled gun to stabilize it a bit it wouldn't be too bad.

Workmanship and service was great.

I have several Mernickle holsters ...

I have three of his belts and about five of his holsters. The PS6 is made (my opinion) specifically for 5 inch 1911's or or long barreled Revos. The SOLE purpose of the high ride is so that when you sit down, the bottom of the holster is high enough that it doesn't push up. I sometimes wonder why people with short barreled guns buy high rides but ... oh well. Bob does a great job and runs a first rate business which is why I keep buying his stuff. His PS2 IWB is one of my favorite leather IWB's.
