The following is excerpted from an NRA Alert. Strikes me as "interesting", the appropriate response to the BATFE being a polite "When and if you get a search warant, please stop by, so we can discuss the matter". Until you get a warrant, please leave, for we have nothing to discuss.
In Border States, BATFE Asks: "May We See Your Guns?"

NRA-ILA has recently received several inquiries from NRA members in Border States who have been visited or called by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). In some cases, agents have asked to enter these people's homes, and requested serial numbers of all firearms the members possess.
