Howdy? is anyone familiar with the NRA "GunClub" for ps2 games?

i am not a video/ps2 game player in any which way... but when i learned about this (and since my bro-in-law got me one) i began researching.

the sad thing is, as much as this game simulates the training that we do at the gun range, it is not compatible in any gun controllers (or as they say light-guns) and only controlled by joysticks which i personally think is a total waste. it is almost perfect especially rainy season is coming (in our place) and that i hate indoor ranges.

anyone know of a lightgun compatible ps2 game that resembles our gun range practices? or do i just have to wait and wish for a newer version compatible for light-gun for this videogame to come out?

anyway...safe shooting to all!

I know it's a stretch, but the best one I could recommend is "Point Blank". It uses the Namco Guncon controller, and marginally could be some sort of cartoon IPSC game. It's nothing as realistic as GunClub but way more fun, especially with the Guncon.

I have played this game, and throughly enjoyed it. No, it's nothing like formal training, but it was fun nevertheless.

Mr. Magnum,

My wife got me GunClub awhile back. It will drive you nuts until you qualify for better guns then it is a piece of cake. I don't really see it as being useful for training--I guess if you read every little blurb they put up you would learn something. Other than that it's a good way to burn out a plasma.

I did some rigging and got nintendo emulators to run on the xbox. Now I play duck hunt with my xbox light gun. Got n64 and snes on it too.

Ya, I play gun con games on my PS@ all the time. It has no real world applications except maybe hand eye and reflex work. I do try to use proper grip and sight teqhniuqes but find it does hnder game performance. I too was given gun club for christmass last year and was equally dissapointed that and game sponsored by the NRA and calling itself "gun club" doesn't use the flipping guns! I sent the producers and the NRA a message. no response but I didn't figure I was going to get one any way.

too bad there's no economical way to make a home version of the player interface from Silent Scope, or a similar setup.
MY problem with "gun games" on consoles (PCs even worse) is that everything is for a pistol..

heck, not a console game but, to me the best gun based "video game" was that old duck hunt/trap-skeet game from the mid-to-late 80's that used a projector and two light guns built like O/Us.

Time Crisis 2 has some pretty good "Training Simulators", and it's probably available on ebay along with the gun controller for a reasonable price.
+1 for the point blank series as well.

I too bought Gun Club, and it's fun, but I was sadly disappointed when I found out that it's not gun controller compatible. Still fun, especially if you want to teach some younger shooters the 4 rules, and other gun handling tips, since they are often displayed on loading screens.

Now, what I *really* want is one of those indoor police simulators that use actual Glock pistols hooked up to the computer, and are projected on big screens. I'm sure they are available, but are probably excessively expensive (like $5,000+) for private users. Would still be fun though....

My brother bought NRA Gun-Club from a bargain-bin, then decided to tortured me with it when I came to visit. It was a snooze-fest for us both. The only good thing I can say about it is that it makes you want to pack up your gear and go out shooting for real.

One of the better gun-games that I've played was at a Dave & Busters. You stood in this field of some sort that would match your movements so you could utilize cover (you remained stationary, but you could duck and shift side-to-side) while shooting the bad-guys. You played a cop and got penalized for shooting any innocent bystanders, so it was good for a shoot/don't shoot practice, and the gun was not sized to be a sci-fi monstrosity like in other gun-games...it was about the size of a Colt Commander. Fun, and you got some good exercise out of it.

I'd probably look for other games, NRA games are traditionally quite terrible, at least if you're a gamer.

My brother showed me gun club (I have more guns, he has more video games ;)), and we were both impressed by it. I do wish it used the light gun (!), but the twitchy feel of the guns is oddly enough about as close as any game has come to being at the range plinking -- too many gun-heavy video games give too much advantage to the shooter, like aiming a floodlight instead of a laser.
