Got an email from the NRA that they had a major announcement for Oct. 6. I must have missed it, what was it?

My Guess is Supporting Kilgore for Govenor

I looked at the NRA website for the major announcement. There I noticed there are six stops across Virginia with Kilgore. My suspicion is that the major announcement is an endorsement of Kilgore for Virginia Govenor.

Money

What do you want to bet it's "please give us somemore money."

Don't get me wrong, I'm a member and suport the organization but they spend more money and effort begging for more than any thing else I'm even closley associated with. I must get at least 3 things in the mail a week.

They are going to announce the organization of an NRA-ILA Tactical Unit to "deal with" anti gun politicians?

They now support the RTKBA!

Moves around the country. It's a great event, you should try to go!

I am a member of the NRA, but truely, I agree.

They spend more money trying to get more money than any orginization I am a part of. They called last night to tell me that George Soros was working through the UN to get my hunting rifle.

I told the lady the only way the UN would get my hunting rifle was to pry my assault rifle from my cold, dead hands. I told her I thought I would spend the $100-200.00  they wanted me to contribute on ammo to practice for the inevitable war. (Yes they actually asked me for $100-200.00...it went like this..."spo can I tell Wayne [LePierre] that he can count on you for $100-200.00?" I laughed out loud at that one...

She was speechless...

I was glad.

Folks, please bear in mind that the NRA cannot use your membership dues in support of its lobbying efforts. Only direct contributions to the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action can be so utilized.

I am not a wealthy man, but I help when I can, even if it’s only every other year or so.

If you're an NRA member and don't want to be pestered with all the "please give us money" calls, just call them up and ask to be placed on the limited mailing list.

It can take a little time to take effect (stuff in transit will still come to you, and other things may be shipped for a couple weeks) but it really does cut down on how much you recieve, and saves the NRA money, too.

atk is exactly correct. A simple phone call will end the constant hysterical letters and demands for money.

This saves you aggravation, and saves the NRA resources. Took me several years to get the picture, but it worked once I "got around to it." Now, I can send whatever I can afford to whichever gun rights organizations I choose, without having to read the scare-tactic fund-raisers.

Regards,
Andrew

You don't even have to call them. Get setup at thier website, and there is a link there about getting on the no call list, no snail mail junk list, and even limit the emails!

So, back on track, was the announcment the Virgina Gov thing? I didn't get any special email about a special announcement, so I am assuming it must be a localized deal...

ACTUALLY, I receive more mailings from the SAF than the NRA. By about 5-1. It isn't a big problem though. I know where my waste basket is, if I don't feel like donating. Orgs. don't send out these mailings because they LOSE money. I wonder what the founding fathers would think about the constant whining because someone got a call or letter. Sheese guys, is discarding a letter, or saying no thanks, to a phone call really that tough for you?
