I heard that two thirds of the NRA members are in PA, is that true?
Mods move if this thread isn't in the right place.

Thanks in advance.

I do not think that is even mathematically possible.

What I have heard is that the state of Pennsylvania has more NRA members than any other state.

Shawn

I doubt the first number too, but might agree with the second.

BTW: I'm a Life Member and have been for quite some time.

Pennsylvania has a very old demographic. I suspect there are a lot of Fudd-type hunters there. But they're dying off. I know that for years, rural and small-town Pennsylvania was a military collector's paradise. The old WWI and WWII veterans were dying off, and their families were selling their war memorabilia for a song, at yard sales and flea markets.

I also heard the stat about the N.R.A. members in this State.
Well, even a mass of N.R.A. members cannot even BEGIN to over-ride a population composed of people on the public dole.
MOST of the non-conservative voting takes place in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and sadly ,election results favor the entitlement folks.
Yep, we shooters are slowly losing our status in many ways from development encroachment to political condemnation.

Being that our club has over 5,000 members, I'm not surprised. Just take a walk into Targetmaster on a Saturday or Sunday. :what:

If that many NRA members were from PA, I suspect you would see the annual convention in PA much more frequently.

Don't be so sure that the middle part of the state is Blue and Pgh and Philie are Red. There is a big mix. But that is what the political pundits generally saw. The only reason I can see for those places being "red" is really rich people who turn progressive and think everyone should give it away, or a high minority population that will eventually be the majority.

From all I can find online PA has the most NRA members and also has the highest rate of firearm ownership. Makes me proud to be a pennsltuckian! (Thats PA hillbilly lingo for livin" in the Sticks.)

I'm from Pa. And an NRA member all my adult life. We have lots of gun shops gun rangers and gun shows. And it just makes me sick to see us called a BLUE STATE. Like someone posted it's that dam no good crime infested dirty city run by morons Philadelphia were all the blue votes come from. Sorry I just had to vent:cuss:

"Good idea. Maybe WV can have Pittsburg?"

Hey! As a NJ resident that is escaping to WV (red state in the last election) don't do me any favors!!!!!!!

You said it! Pittsburg and Philly make a blue state out of a red one! GRRRRRR!

So?

Sore loser.

Last I checked Philadelphia was the main reason PA has the importance its does in national elections due to its population size. :)

^What you say is true, however, I would rather our state not be so important in the election if we could be a "red" state. What good do we do if we don't do any good?:)

My apologies. Lets get back on track guys. If you want to talk politics PM me.:)

No its fine. I got to say my piece and get it out of my system. :)

Back on topic Tucker Carlson on Election night on FOX was the person claiming the 2/3 number.

On a related note, Pittman-Robertson funds are distributed by the number of hunting licenses sold in each state. As I recall the two largest recipients are Pennsylvania and Texas.

So that's where I heard it! I thought at the time it was kinda screwy. I mean, it'd be nice if it were true, but....
