Just joined the site today and as my first post I also wanted to say the I have re-joined the NRA after 10 plus years since I last registered with them.

Hello everyone!

Well maybe, just maybe this news as well as the well documented buying frenzy that has been taking place in the last week will start changing the minds of several in Congress that have been emboldened by what they might have thought recently was the time to stick gun owners hard.

I too, re-upped today. My membership has been out for a couple years, but being self employed, and work being slow, it just couldn't happen. It's a Christmas present to myself, and to others.
It's so sad, that all of us respectable, law abiding citizens have to fight for the rights that our founding fathers gave to us, while the crooks abide by no laws.

not to be a neg here, but isn't 8000 / day something less than 0.2% of current membership?

it's not that much

Not when you look at it compared to total membership, but I bet it's a dang sizable increase over the numbers last year. How many people do you think joined daily a month ago? 50? A hundred?

Find me any investment that grows by 0.2% per day and you'll find a lot of happy investors. That's a pretty good growth rate. Granted, I'm not sure how long that's sustainable, but its a good growth rate nonetheless.

It's good growth. Lets hope it's sustainable.

I doubt it, but lets hope.

Rome was not built in a day.

Nor was it torn down in a day.

I hope NRA membership swells. I hope people who stand on the sidelines who support 2A issues come forward and join. The NRA is the most influencial of the gun rights organizations and certainly has some resources to dedicate to political issues.

This does not mean NRA members don't care about the victims. But they probably believe that new laws would have little impact in reducing murders with firearms. I am not cold to suicide issues, but I feel these people will find a way to meet their maker if a firearm is not available.
