That was just plain ugly.
I like it...I think I'll use it.:)

Someone duplicate posted this topic, where I tried to post this, hope it fits...

Which only reinforces the fact that rule of law means nothing to the lawless. Natural rights listed in ink, are but minor obstacles to the tyrant. It is up to us to keep these rights, to give them meaning, and to use wisely.

In this particular situation, its going to take people resisting confiscation by whatever means necessary. Not watchful NRA lawyers, not arrogant mayors, or their willing pack of hounds falling to their knees for forgiveness... (would make for an interesting picture though.)

Imagine if you will, the likes of a "President sHrillary"... are we under any illusions that prior rule of law, or recognition of natural rights would prevent an administration, under the guidance of a socialist like that from enacting and enforcing legislation which would severely curtail the rights we so hold dearly now? Are we under any illusions that a piece of crap who would do such things, would never come from the not-quite-so-despised Republican party? Heh.

We readily crow proudly about our concealed carry permits, and the flaming hoops we jump through to get them. A permission is not a right, nor is "reasonable regulation" any different from infringement under color of law. (Dons body armor, and nomex suit). O.k. let me know what you think of that...

The NRA *is* listening to it's members and non-members: I've received more emails in the last 6 months about legislative alerts, their actions taken by them, aggressive things like this, etc. than I ever have.

Good on them, and more reason for me to be the member I am-even if I don't agree with them all the time.

As many observed and quickly forgot afterwards, the next Katrina confiscation will be expected by those on the ground and either evaded or resisted. Many of the NO residents thought the government was there to help them. They didnt have the benefit of seeing our ABC footage showing what was really going on.

Future scenarios will have the benefit of hindsight that NO didnt.

I am glad that NRA and SAF is doing this lawsuit. I also need to send my membership fee in to SAF because of thier work on this.

Do we have a count of how many confiscations actually happened? As far as I can tell, we only have evidence of the lady on the news/current NRA mag. I assume there are more, but ... the NRA emails don't give any kind of count...

Perhaps an email to NRA is in order...

People who resisted by any means necessary would now be dead or in prison and would have hurt the legal case for protecting firearms rights immeasurably.

On the other hand, those who waited for watchful NRA lawyers now have several preliminary injunctions from Federal judges in their favor and are setting up caselaw that will better secure all of our rights.

Our country has a fine representative democracy and legal system to work out conflicts. It may not be perfect; but you can win huge victories in it with far greater ease than it would take to succeed in any type of armed resistance. If you can't get what you want politically, you certainly aren't going to get what you want by any means necessary.

None of those guns will ever be returned, but hopefully we can establish NO as its own nation, and offer it to Mexico, provided they stop helping their own to sneak across the border.

Only if we can throw San Francisco in the deal.

I agree, and think we should just let them have all of Kali (let the real patriots move out first though). However, the rest of the country? No. They stop, and fences. BIG fences. And a moat. A BIG moat. If Biker sees this I know he might agree (atleast on the fence and moat part).

Seriously, Nagin is a racist idiot.

That being said, I don't care. I live in the midwest, where we don't have racists, black, white, Hispanic, or Asian ;)

I understand that Ray Nagin is running for re election this year. Can anyone confirm this? I would be willing to make a donation to the campaign of whoever is running against him.

I read a thing about Nagin. He's campaigning in Houston. In front of a crowd of 50 people, he said (paraphrasing) that the other candidates 'don't look like us'.

:banghead:

There are like 28 candidates running for mayor of NO currently. I think the article was at CNN.
