U.S. Rifle, Caliber 5.56mm M-16 series - In all courses of fire and in all positions the standard 10, 20-
round or 30-round box magazine or a reduced capacity magazine of the same external dimensions will be
attached. A case deflector (DC-T-30 or commercial equivalent) is allowed.
As the A3 version is used by the military as the M16A4 , it should be allowed.
The detachable carry handle may not have the elevation for the 600 yard stage. Seems I read that somewhere.

Just looking at it on Bushy's website, looks like you're good to go.
I've heard that the Army Marksmanship Unit has gone to the A4 (proper designation) because they can swap the sights between uppers. They say the Army ream doesn't reuse an old upper when they rebuild a rifle, so it saves rebuilding pinned match sights.
The newer carry-handle sights should have enough elevation to get you to 600. You'll need 12-13 minutes worth of elevation off of your 300 yard settting. Spin it and see how far it goes?

Looking at the Bushmaster model PCWA3S20DCM8XR description on their website, seems like an awful lot of rifle for $1150 (street price). I don't see any way I could build one up to those specs for that little money. I like the fact this rifle could be used for NRA High Power Match, Service Rifle, and F-TR. Our local club is a 600 yard course of fire and offers all of the NRA competitions once per month. I think I better get this rifle!
