May 3 Neal Knox Update -- What a week.
It opened with the NRA Annual Meetings in Orlando -- where
there was a united front against reenacting the so-called "assault
weapon" law -- followed by the Minnesota's governor signing a
freshly passed "shall-issue" carry law, and wound up with the
Missouri legislature passing another such law in defiance of the
governor and metropolitan newspapers.
The other major event yesterday was a sharply divided D.C.
Federal Court panel's decision striking down parts of the McCain-
Feingold Campaign Finance law in a 1,600-page opinion. But they
upheld the ban on radio and TV ads attacking -- or reporting -- the
views of Federal politicians.
