Does this happen to anyone else? I've been shooting my revolvers in DA a lot over the last few months, and given the relatively heavy DA trigger pull, and the placement of the finger on the trigger, I suspect it's just over-use.

Now that many people shoot pistols, I'm guessing numb trigger fingers aren't as common as they once might have been.

Makes me wonder, though, if very high volume (i.e. competitive) revolver shooters, or shooters that have been shooting revolvers for a very long time have a chronic problem with this, i.e. can it become permanent?

Two things

It sounds like you have a crush injury to the nerve in your finger. It should come back slowly. The nerve cells are long tubes with jelly (cytoplasm) in them, pressure squeezes it out leading to loss of function.
This would be happening because you are squeezing the trigger with the second bone back from the tip. Try using the pad of the finger.
Good luck.

Depending on your age (or years of abuse), it could be a symptom of Carpel-Tunnel syndrome. If it does not go away with rest, mention it to your physician at your next physical.

Thanks for your input. It is worse after shooting and is much reduced with a few days off.

Yup.

I've tried using the pad of my finger, but I doesn't feel as natural in DA, and I don't feel I have as much leverage, so the pull feels even harder. I'll keep experimenting, though.
