It seems the the mag limit is no longer 6 on pump shotguns in in NY State for big game hunting. The 6 round limit only applies for auto loading firearms. I am happy to see this as I no longer have to worry about the plugg for shotguns with a 7+1 capacity. I would like to see this go for auto-loaders too but for now i am happy with this. For once NY makes a few changes that make sense. Also they have removed the barrel length rules for handguns. Now there is no grey area if it is legal to carry your CCW weapon while hunting if the barrel length is less than 3 inches.

Well, I leave the plug in my pump as it's used only for migratory birds. My rifles all have 3or 4 round box mags and I've never needed more'n one per deer. But, hey, any lawl that's liberalized and makes life easier is a good thing, i reckon. :D Now, I would push for using rifles, personally, on deer. Shotguns are okay, I guess, but I prefer rifles or at least black powder rifles. Actually lately, I've preferred the black powder. :D

i agree with you as you generally dont need more than one but what if there is 3 or 4? :) just saying. I also agree for the push for rifles.

"...no longer have to worry about the plug..." Still required for migratory birds. Mind you, if you can't hit a deer with 6, 7 won't help. You won't likely get more than one anyway.

last year took 2 in a group on the run with the 'ol ithaca m37 could have taken 3 but only had 2 doe tags And I will admit I missed with my 1st shot so... i dont buy into the follow up shots are a myth and all you need is a single shot crowd. If i can fill my tags in 1 morning I would have no problem with that. Imho what a guy chooses to hunt with should be more up to the individual and less up to the state. This year the 590 might follow me into the woods without the piece of dowel rod.
