Just an FYI for anybody who lives in Broome County, New York.

The Sheriff's website lists:

Broome County Pistol Permits
Pistol Permits are $109.00 Cash or Money Order.
Must be 21 years of age and be a Broome County resident.
Pistol Permit Office: 607.778.2113
Hours: Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Also, it used to be 3 character references.

Now, the permit is $115.25. You need 4 character references. :banghead:

Is this the sort of "Reasonable Restriction" the anti-gun-owner crowd keeps telling us about?

After Heller, when licensing is deemed OK as long as there is not a total ban, watch for a similar system in a jurisdiction near you!

Hehe, SURE you can get a pistol license.

All we need is 7 pints of blood, fingerprints, a lock of your grandmothers hair, toenail clippings from your grandfather, $1500 dollars, and a signed petition from every resident of the county. Then, after a 7 year delay, we will issue your permit promptly!

Don't complain too much at least you can get one, talk to a resident of Westchester county or the "BIG APPLE" and see what goes on there. The letters of reference are nothing more than harrassment, would you ask someone who dislikes you to give you one? I applied for a permit in Florida and it was straight forward with no letters required and the application was processed and approved in less than 60 days.

Personally I really want to move to PA. I live 10 minutes from the NY/PA border, so I am really just waiting to see if my new job is going to send me to Malvern, PA, or if I can just sell my house in NY and buy one right over the border in PA.

PA = lower taxes, lower energy bill, less gun hassles. (NO permit to buy a handgun, only to carry? Yes, please!)
