O.K. why is it so hard to find a list of the NRA board of directors?

I just about flipped when I read this in another thread referring to zumboner (using the Ronald Reagan definition of the last 5 letters of that of course ):

I would like to see him removed from the NRA Board of Directors

I spent the better part of a half hour trying to find a list of the NRA board of directors. I tried NRA websites then I tried a google search. Nothing.

Why is this a semi secret?

Current leadership and policies

The NRA organization is governed by a large (typically 75 member) board of directors. The directors choose the president, the leading spokesman for the organization, from among their members. Although traditionally this position changed annually, for several years it was consecutively held by Charlton Heston, who was a compelling promoter of the NRA agenda. Heston became afflicted with Alzheimer's disease and stepped down in April 2003. Sandra Froman is currently president. Marion P. Hammer was the first female president, serving from 1995 to 1998.

The organization also has an Executive Vice President, who is not a director but functions as Chief Executive Officer, appointed at the pleasure of the directors. Wayne LaPierre has held this position since 1991.

Somebody's got to have a link to the whole list of the NRA's board of directors. It just CAN'T be this difficult to find.

I apologize for the post that started this thread. Mr. Jim Zumbo is not on the NRA Board of Directors. I assumed he was because previous posts in the thread I posted in said just that. I spent about an hour on the internet trying to confirm he was on the Board early this morning, but failed to find an updated list. The NRA website needs to make this information available and easy to find. Please accept as my penance this updated list which I found in the August 2006 American Rifleman magazine.

I'm curious as to why you think this info should be posted on their (NRA) web site. If you're a member of the NRA, this info is readily available. If you're not a member, you should be.

I am a life member. I think it should be available on their website(s), if not to everyone, at least to members. I am not saying it is not available, only that I could not find it. I want it to be more readily available, at least to members, for reasons of accountability. I realize most members probably do not know who is on the board, or care, but they should.

After too long fumbling around the NRA website, I called NRA and finally got through to a real live person at NRA-ILA. According to him, Board of Directors membership is published in September NRA publications and ballots for voting members are in the following February publications. I don't keep back issues, so what I'd really like to see at NRA.org is a list of the Board of Directors with an e-mail and snail mail address in the portion of the site available to NRA members only. I remember seeing addresses for Board members in the past and believe it would really be a good resource, especially since the NRA-ILA guy told me the Board of Directors will be making decisions on future work for Mr. Zumbo.
And OBTW, if you're a voting member, vote!!
