...got me thinking.

The Stoeger Condor Outback is an interesting gun for the type of hunting I do. $369 MSRP.

The top barrel could have a rifled slug - possibly with a rifled choke tube for deer. The bottom barrel could have #6 shot for grouse. Hmmm.

After the first few days in a stand, I go walk around during deer season. I usually flush a grouse or two. Those rifle/shotgun combos always seemed a little goofy for my interests.

I probably won't spend the money or move away from a deer rifle anytime soon, but a short o/u for deer/birds seems like a fun little gun to carry around the woods.

It also seems like it would be a great "one gun only" option as the short barrel and rifle sights would work well for home defense.

Does anyone hunt with this kind of set-up?

I don't but I did see an skb recently that was set up in a similar fashion. It was a 24" O/U with minimal rifle sights. The top barrel was a rifles slug barrel and the bottom was a fixed mod. Pretty neat setup.
