O/U single trigger, both barrels - an MG?

I saw this somewhere and I wondered: An O/U shotgun, in teh middle position fires both barrels, on a single trigger pull. Is it a machine gun? I think not, because a machine gun fires one round at a time, and by extension, a "market gun" with one trigger and more than one barrel is also an MG, and those are legal AFAIK? What do the NFA experts rule?

If it fires more than one round per trigger pull, it is a no-no per the ATF. Simple as that.

Sort of. There are letters that say, one shot on pull and another when you release are OK (mini 14) cranks (Gatling) are fine too. you can also go old school and fire a bunch of rifles off of one pull of a rope with a broom handle or stick and be legal. Getting a bit off your topic.

What over/under are you talking about? Most won't do what you describe.

A better example might be a double trigger side by side with them hooked together.

There is no middle position on an O/U - unless it was deliberately modified what you have is a malfunctioning gun that needs service to prevent doubling

My Winchester Model 101 O/U has no such thing. Each pull of the trigger fires one barrel at a time.

I don't know if it would be a MG, but it would probabbly be an eye-opener especially if you weren't expecting it.

I suspect it's either been modified or needs repair, I'd have it looked at right away.

A fire on pull and fire on release is legal, since it is 2 actions of the trigger (there is an ATF ruling on this). Perhaps the O/U falls under this category.

Many trap and pigeon shooters use a release trigger. Pull it to 'set', call for bird and the gun goes bang when you release pressure on the trigger.

The standard type of trigger would be called a Pull Pull in this regard.

Most of the nicer ou's cock a hammer when you open the action. When the gun is fired, the recoil cocks the other barrel.

No, as I put in post #3 it concerns the Mini 14 firing a shot on pull and another on release.

Are you referring to a standard Mini 14 trigger?

I have owned a couple of them over the years and have never had one that fired a shot in any other way than having to PULL the trigger for EACH shot.

You can add something to the sear like a simple staple and it will fire on pull and then on release.

What is this MIDDLE position, of which you speak? Mine have left/right or front/back. No middle ground that I am aware of.
