I had an interesting experience this weekend. I went camping in the wilds of southern Arizona and wore my CZ75 in a leather flap holster, loaded with 1 in the pipe. The gun bounced around plenty as I hiked, wrestled toddlers, etc. When I came home I took the gun out of the holster and unloaded and cleared the chamber. I found that the top round had somehow bounced loose of the magazine and it came out of the magazine well after the magazine was pulled.
Now, they were 9mm+p CorBon loads, and in my other magazine were Doubletaps. I noticed that the OAL of the CorBon rounds was shorter than the Doubletaps, allowing the rounds to shift around in the magazine. The Doubletap rounds do not seem to shift but for a tiny bit, whereas the CorBons have plenty of play. I suspect that this play may have given the top round room to wiggle loose of the feed lips.
It was strange. The pistol has always been 100% reliable, and this was a real surprise, but then I rarely bounce it around as much as I did this weekend.
Has this happened to anyone else? From now on I plan to stick with the DoubleTaps until I figure out that OAL was not a factor.
