Why isn't there a checkbox for "Retired before midnight, so how the H*ll should I know?"

In the past I might fire a magazine into the ground (never the air) but where I live now it would bring the police most riki-tik.

It was quiet here. Generally we watch the fireworks from the top of Pikes Peak, but this year the hour came and went and we didn't even notice till about five after.

Here in BFE North Florida we always do fireworks but for some reason it is an old standing tradition that we ring in the new year with several rounds from our 12ga. shotguns. Been doing it since I was a small boy.

as with any city that I know of...but like that's supposed to make a difference?

I used to live a few miles from downtown Austin in "the hood" the wife and I used to stand outside at midnight, then the area started to get real bad and the wife was like oh wow listen to all the fireworks.

I listened for a bit then was like...those aren't fireworks they're gun shots. She asked "where do the bullets go?" I said "down"...and on that note we went back inside...

Now I live in a yuppie area and the locals just set off the cannons from the back yard and keep the local police circling trying to figure out whose back yard it is

I stayed at a friends house in Santa Rosa, Mexifornia for newyears this year and there was not really any gun shots. Firecrackers and fireworks even are all 'illegal' - even a sparkler, though i could hear a few going off in the hours leading up to midnight, and some more on the hour (or close to it) itslef. Mostly just some texas style 'yee-haws' and such.

It was not "quiet around here" though, but I guess the poll was referring to gun shot noises. Across the street from my friends house is an inconsiderate house of a conglomeration of several generations and families mexican household which had been having a party all week, especially that last night and ALL day new years day. At least it was too cold for them so they went inside the garage and shut the door and watched porn movies, leaving all the beer bottles, cigarette butts, barfs and urinations outside in the court and their neighbors' yard; God, please help them!

2 Dead

We had a shooting shortly after midnight in Denver. One .44 magnum round apparently fired at a street light went through the exterior wall of a home, then through a 48yo womans head, then into the side of an 11yo girl. Both are dead and a 25yo dumbass has been arrested.

EDIT: Earlier reports had the police speculating that the murderous dumbass was aiming at a lighted snowman figure in front of the house.
