I went to my local range today to let my step son sight in his deer rifle. Because I wasn't shooting I had time to look thru the spotter scope at everyone else's targets. What a shock. After reading this forum I was convinced that everyone owned a rifle that would shoot sub 1/4 groups at 100 yards as long as they did their part...................Well I'm sure some of you have guessed what I saw. Yep that's right, it looked like a nice shotgun pattern from one end of the range to the other.


So where were all the super accurate wonder rifles.

Next thing you know I'll start questioning honesty on the internet.

If they had access to all the wisdom and knowledge available on this forum, then they would be shooting sub-moa groups.

Maybe you were seeing where they were intentionally firing into different parts of the target to avoid having to go out and put up a fresh target?

Its not the rifles... the guns were doing their part.

They obviously weren't doing their part!

Seriously though, it sorta does look like a shotgun pattern while you're adjusting your scope while sighting in. Especially if you're working on more than one rifle at a time.

I could say the same at the handgun range. Sometimes I see nice "shotgun" patterns at 5 or 7 yards. It still cracks me up when I see somebody shooting their pistol sideways. Let's just say that there are a lot of Internet Commandos out there.
