I went to my local range today to let my step son sight in his deer rifle. Because I wasn't shooting I had time to look thru the spotter scope at everyone else's targets. What a shock. After reading this forum I was convinced that everyone owned a rifle that would shoot sub 1/4 groups at 100 yards as long as they did their part...................Well I'm sure some of you have guessed what I saw. :uhoh: Yep that's right, it looked like a nice shotgun pattern from one end of the range to the other. :scrutiny:

So where were all the super accurate wonder rifles. :p

Next thing you know I'll start questioning honesty on the internet. :D

If they had access to all the wisdom and knowledge available on this forum, then they would be shooting sub-moa groups. :)

Maybe you were seeing where they were intentionally firing into different parts of the target to avoid having to go out and put up a fresh target?

They obviously weren't doing their part!

Seriously though, it sorta does look like a shotgun pattern while you're adjusting your scope while sighting in. Especially if you're working on more than one rifle at a time.

I could say the same at the handgun range. Sometimes I see nice "shotgun" patterns at 5 or 7 yards. It still cracks me up when I see somebody shooting their pistol sideways. Let's just say that there are a lot of Internet Commandos out there.
