Local forum members got together and had a gathering of rights celebrators,
Approximately 30 or so met at a local eatery and had a great meeting and dinner, (golden corral) one of the few places allowing OC.
This follows a previous dinner a month ago and the size has increased two fold.
One gal leaving was surprised and frightened at a gaggle of folks packing sidearms, she ran thru the crowd (literally) as if to run for her life.
Her husband came back and we had a little informative discussion, he asked about joining the shooting site, so we'll see if we had at least one convert.
Not much interaction with the patrons, some stared, young kids pointed and had the saucereyed look. No sure if they were all polite because of the firearms or it was natural, lines at the buffet had a couple folks question the carry. Nice discussion with waiters and waitress.
She (waitress) was asked of her opinion and she shared that we should all have the right to carry and defend ourselves, she was however somewhat embarrassed to talk in front of such a large crowd.
We have decided to make this a monthly or semi-month thing if we can locate enough eateries to allow us in.
Great nite, with some great gunnies and families.
We hope to grow 50% each time we make the go, so we'll see.
good shooting to you survivors,
rj

It could have been entertaining for someone to try and rob the place just then . . . .

"This is a stick-up! Everybody -- "
*loud chorus of metal on leather and safeties clicking off*
" -- uh, just kidding -- y'all have a nice day . . . "

That's cool! I'm going to an open carry barbecue this coming Saturday in Colorado. I can't wait. I told my boss and wife and they said, and I quote, "you can't take off work for a barbecue". Trust me, I love my wife and I respect my boss, but I'll be at the barbecue.

Yes indeed, a great time. Found out RJ ain't half as big as others have let on, I thought he was 9' tall shot fire outta his arse :what:. A nice guy with a big heart, but from what I've heard don't piss him off.

Some guys on Calguns are referencing this thread for an OC dinner for them during the NRA convention, and I mentioned it at the dinner Sat.

If any of you Calgunners want, we can set this up, just get ahold of me. PM me for phone number. Get an idea of how many and what time in the evening you want to go, and if anyone needs a ride I can help out.

We'd like to have these at least once a month or so, in differing locations, and hopefully get even more people. The first had 22, this one had 30 (most new people, only a handful of last group), and I'd really like to see this grow to 100 or more.

Last but not least, for under $15, all the steak you can eat with the fixins, love that GC. The first one was held in Gilbert, the last one was the Glendale location on Northern.

Have a great gun carryin' Kenpo day

Probably thinking about all her outstanding warrants, and that maybe she was in the middle of an LE convention :)

OC Dinner

Yep, Golden Corral, great food, only problem is there is lots of it, helping propogate the story that RJ is a old fat guy, heheh, Yep I'm old, and getting fatter, but the conversation can't be beat at these gatherings, folks from all walks of life, and areas of the Valley/State, so one can compare attitudes of neighbors towards gunowners and such.
It'd be great if this dinner plan could grow to be a huge gathering.
More people, more notice, perhaps more converts.
It may help with locations that want to be weapon free, they seemed to be growing here in the city.
Hey look forward to seeing you there.

And oh yes I do shoot fire outta the ass, but only after having some firey carnitas.

My current location requires a weapon and ammo just to get into the resturaunt

Too bad your current location also requires "Barney Fife" carrying. Come on, tell us the rest of the story...gun on sling or in holster and ammo in pocket. :D

New date for another dinner will be posted when decided, poll is under way, hopefully it will grow considerably from each meeting
thanks to all
