Coming to the end of the challenges, started by me anyway. We have done battle rifle, rimfire, AR, and lever action. I think this challenge will be a good pairing.

    THE RULES
You will fire 10 shots onto the approved target listed which for this challenge will be a SR-1 100 yd target. Scoring will be scored by adding up the score for all 10 shots. A shot touching a line counts as the next numbering up. For instance if a shot touches the line separating the 7 and 8 the score is a 8. A X counts as 10 points.

You can download the target and make copies online although however I downloaded it on a standard printer paper 8.5 x 11 inch paper from a download link provided below (thanks random) and it comes out the exact same size as a bought SR-1 target as far as bulls eye repair targets. You may use any color target or put a sticker in the center X circle if you want to help aiming as long as it fits correct. Whatever SR-1 target you get it has to have a X ring. Of course you can buy SR-1 targets also the full size will probably be better for the standing freehand classes.

    https://bisonballistics.com/downloads/nra-sr-1-target-200-yard-reduced-for-100-yards

I personally get mine from national target company, SR-1 full size and repair center targets.

    https://www.nationaltarget.com/

    Allowed firearms are as follows...
    AK Kalashnikov and variants 7.62x39mm
    SKS
    Rasheed
    MINI 14 or MINI 30
    M1 carbine

    There will be four classifications.

Class 1, 10 shots at 100 yds , standing position iron sights only
Class 2, 10 shots at 100 yds, standing position optics or dot sights only
Class 3, 10 shots at 100 yds , iron sights only, benched with front rest or sand bag, bi-pod or prone position which ever way you shoot best (no rear rest allowed rifle must be shouldered)
Class 4, 10 shots at 100 yds, optics or dot sights only, benched with front rest or sand bag, bi-pod or prone position which ever way you shoot best (no rear rests allowed rifle must be shouldered)

Please include with the target submission

    username
    classification entered class 1, 2 , 3 or 4
    score
    firearm
    ammunition
( if you want you can catalog group size also)

then take a pic of it and post it here, if you would post a pic of the firearm used as well.

You may submit as many targets as you wish provided it was shot with a different firearm. One target submission per firearm is allowed within the class . You can take as many tries that you want BEFORE you post your target but only post the target you want to submit for the final submission to the challenge.

The cutoff date for submissions is November 30 2019

Please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

    Good luck and good shooting

Any questions such as how to post pics or qualifying firearms, or links to possible target downloads please feel free to ask

sad to see the end of your challenges - they have been great fun, as well as educational.

    That’s good.

You know, there are AK pattern rifles in .223 and .308 out there too (hint, hint). :)

Mine is not very accurate either however there are those on this forum that say theirs or their newer one is pretty accurate, here is the chance to post up and show. It is why I thought a challenge of MINI vs AK/SKS would be a good pairing.

Yugo SKS with a rough bore. All things considered, not bad.

(And who says a bayonet isn’t useful? They’re great for standing the rifle up for a photo op.).

And my only AK. This one is a pre-‘89 import ban Chinese rifle. I just wish mags weren’t as expensive.

I’ll have to do the standing class at another time. My attempt today was less than impressive.

Much happier with my standing results today. Better ammo and better stance probably played a big part.

Took my Romanian to the range today, but couldn't find paper on the sighter target - gave up to save ammo - will go back tomorrow & start at the 25 yd line to see what happened to the sights - most likely it's going to be my eyes getting stupid again.. :cuss:

Russian SKS, I think a Tula. I have tested Tula 122gr, Red Army 122 gr and 124gr, S&B, Prvi, and Fiocchi ammo in it and it groups best with Tula or Red Army steel cased 122 gr. I'll show the Tula and Red Army targets for info sake, I seemed to string to the right with RA ammo but score wise it did the best. Had a rather hot barrel by that point might have something to do with that.

if you can find any Golden Tiger, give it a try.
a number of folks (including me) have found it to be superior.

All good entries but yeah surprise with the MINI, looks like a newer one which might be true that newer are more accurate than older ones like mine got mine in 1991 or 92 for $300 new which was worth that at the time, past 75 yards it goes down hill fast accuracy wise and I have tried several brands and grains. I know there is a accurizer barrel attachment you can get but I never tried it.

I went out and tried with the Norinco AK under folder, and out of frustration of being tired of having to sight in again, just gonna post this for info sake it is not a entry I give up on the this Norinco until I can get a sight pusher and would rather just move on to other guns for the challenges. I was shooting center mass with Wolf ammo last time I used it (long time ago), now with Tula and Red Army ammo it shoots way left. I never have got good groups out of it there are always three to four shots that go off into the yonder 100_2725.JPG 013.JPG . I know some say Norinco are "better" in the AK world but mine doesn't show it, except it does have a very smooth trigger. But my century imported Romanian SAR-1 outshines it on every other level.

So just for the sake here is typical of what I get out of this Norinco. It has between 1000 to 1500 rounds through it since being bought in 1989. Fun to shoot bowling pins up to 75 yards but not very accurate in my hands past 75 yards.

M1 Carbine, 1.1M Winchester with post war mods, It's a DCM gun from around 1960.
    Class 3, off bags
    I score it 95-1x
Reloads: 14.5gr H110, 110gr gun show FMJs, Win SR primers.

The gun shoots good groups but wants to walk shots to the left. I started aiming center and had to keep moving the sights right until the last shot was aimed at the edge of the black at 3 o'clock; that's the one I scored as an X.
