Odd Top Break

Here is an unusual revolver.

I happened upon a little .32 S&W Break Top. Looks almost identical to a Smith and Wesson Mod. 2. It has Nickel Plating a 3 " barrel and the only marking on the whole gun is: "Schofield's Patent" on the barrel rib.

Very well made and still in relatively good shape. My Father picked it up years ago and related that it still goes bang every New Years Eve... (apparently it's still in time). :eek:

I am almost positive that this would be the same Mr Schofield of S&W fame.
Any clues to the history?

I shall post a pic as soon as Dad gets one out to me.
