I am not know for my knowledge in revolvers... aside from appreciation for their caliber diversity, their reliability, and Jerry Miculek. :)

However, aside from all the S&W J/K/N/X frames and Colt <insert snake name here>s, there is one company that interests me even more--Uberti. Specifically, the Schofield top breaks. The only place I've ever heard the name Schofield is in relation to .44, and even then I can't be entirely sure. :(

So, I'd like to know everything--history of the Schofield TB, Uberti's QC, accuracy, reliability, malfs only found with this particular design... the usual. Thanks in advance, and please excuse the ignorance of a rifleman.

P.S. In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, there's a part just after they escape from Castle Brunwald where Indy and his father are on the beach. A German fighter is headed straight for them, and Indy pulls out a top-break (which is empty). What model is this? I want to say Webley, but... are they related to the Schofields at all?

I have the Navy Arms Wells Fargo Model in 45 LC made by Uberti and would have to say it was flawless from the box. It has had around 1000 rounds ran through it trouble free. A friend of mine bought the same gun only his had Uberti only on it and was not quite so lucky. His gun is binding between the rim and the rear of the frame when cocking. He had to go to the thinnest rimmed brass he could find to get it to function. My gun uses mixed brass without any issues at all. I won't say you will get a better pistol from Navy Arms but they do have Uberti put a little more work into theirs than most with the Uberti only name exhibit.

I think you are right about the pistol in the movie being a Webley. There was no connection to a Schofield that I have ever heard of ......... :)

Early Uberti Schfields had some problems but even these guns were far and away better than the Armi San Marco Schofields.
I had to repair an ASM revolver and was forced to buy a book by a guy named David Chicoine,(Gunsmithing the Guns of the Old West), to get everything sorted out.

New manufactured Uberti top breaks are even better than the originals and a good value if you are willing to spend the going amount for one.

I just saw a blurb somewhere that Uberti is planning to introduce several variations of Smith Top Breaks in the near future including the American and first model Russian,(old, old Russian model).
Calibers will be .44/40, .45 Colt, and .44 Russian.
I look forward to this happening.
