so i got a judge on a whim ive also found some other neat stuff from days gone by and just plain wierd chamberings like the IAI Automag III in .30 carbine or the COP .357 modern pepperbox but i was wondering what else is out there that just strikes you as an Oddball Firearm heres my short list

COP .357
IAI Automag III .30 carbine
Taurus Raging Thirty .30 carbine
Taurus Raging Bull .223 Remington
Mateba Autorevolver
1856 LeMat Revolver (the grapeshot barrel put it over)
Triple Action LLC "Thunder" .50 BMG
TOZ-106
The Russian MC255 Revolver Shotgun 20ga

Well, the P08 Luger isn't exactly an odd-ball, but, other than the Borchardt, can you name another toggle-lock pistol? I guess that would make it a bit odd.

any of the BFR's

stainless tokarev clones by norinco

broomhandle Mauser

itty biitty LLAMA 1911's in 22,32 and 380

anything made by Webly&Scott

Savage automatic handguns

How about the Stetchkin OTs-38 silenced revolver? This revolver uses internally-silenced ammunition (the same 7.62x41 round used in the PSS silent pistol) instead of a silencer on the revolver, and the cylinder swings out from the frame from the front of the crane instead of from the bottom:

Consider the Dardick, which fired "trounds," the Gyrojet, which fired spin-stabilized rocket projectiles, and the Webley-Fosberry automatic revolver.

And if you go back long enough, how about pepperbox pistols and three and four barrel "deringer" type guns?

Check out the Reid's "My Friend" knuckleduster some time, with no barrel and built-in "brass knuckles." Truth be told, I wish that someone would bring an updated version back on the market today.

H&R semi-automatic pistol, the Self-Loader.

Chicago Palm Pistol.

S&W "Air-Crewman" with aluminum cylinder.

Norinco Model 77B, a 9mm P pistol that uses the front of the trigger guard to cock the pistol, al la the Lignose.:)

The Nagant revolver is already a design oddity. Here is one with a suppressor. Actually, a suppressor would work on this design since there is no cylinder flash gap.

The Velo Dog and the Belgian/Montenegrin "Gasser" revolvers also come to mind. And there is an old (WWI era) German or Austrian pistol with a blow-forward action, but its name escapes me.

The Semmerling, a sort of hybrid of auto/derringer on which you manually cycle the slide by moving it forward for each shot, is certainly odd.

Mine would definitely be my Grendel P-10. It's from the 2nd series they made, and some of us cops got in on a PD PO to get them to consider as potential BUGs. The PO price per piece was $125, I think, but we found out later it was supposed to be $175. So, we paid less. At the time (1990), this was a remarkable gun in that it was very small (the size of a current KT-P3AT) and still held 10 rounds of .380ACP ammo. This was achieved by using a "built-in" magazine in the grip, one that was not removeable. Rounds were loaded through the ejection port; M-1 stripper clips made this easier (and the gun actually came with two of them.)
Most of us liked the guns, but some feed ramp polishing was typically needed to get them to function reliably. If you knew how, you could load an eleventh round into the gun after chambering one of the first ten.
The gun came with two (or was it three?) stripper clips, a takedown tool that doubled as a clip alignment tool, a grip extender that attached to the butt with a built-in Allen screw, and a zippered case. With the grip extender on, it's not bad to shoot, though the short barrel makes the .380 snap a little more than on a longer-barreled piece like my Thunder. I've enjoyed it, and it is one of my hidden HD pieces, but it is not, nor has ever been, my "grab-first" or carry piece.
Those of you with Kel-Tec 3ATs, this gun is the granddaddy to yours...

Though there are plenty other candidates what warrant the oddball prize more, I do like the Soviet PSM with its neato little 5.45x18 cartridge. I remember years ago being fascinated by an article in some magazine about this pistol and cartridge.

"Its 7.62X38, same as the Nagant 1895 revolver, thats another oddball."

No, that's yet ANOTHER oddball; the Nagant round is thinner and rimmed, and is meant to be used in the Nagant revolver that moves the cylinder forward before firing, so that the front of the case enters the rear of the barrel to seal off the barrel/cylinder gap. The 7.62x41 is rimless and is based on the 7.62x39 AK rifle cartridge, and has a sliding piston inside the case to trap the propellant gasses. You can see this round being fired and loaded in the PSS at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K73kKODFyzw

Taurus once advertised (but I never saw any for sale) a "Raging Hornet" and a "Raging Bee" revolver, cals. .22 Hornet and .218 Bee respectively. Word has it these names were selected after "Screaming Pissant" was rejected. ;)

Lone Haranguer..... I somewhat remember seeing a Raging Hornet before at a gunshop I frequented back when I was in the Army in Columbus Georgia. If I remember right, it sat in the case for a long long time before someone bought it.

How about a Grendel P30? 30 rounds of .22 WMR in the magazine. About the same size as the P10.:D

damn guys i didnt realize there were that many "oddballs" i dont know for sure on the taurus raging (bee, hornet, thirty, etc...) ever being made for the public but i know that they have at least one of each that they have shown at the shot shows and in the new G&A buyers guide they still advertise the rageing .223 which i would love to see i love the odd chamberings like pistol cartredges in rifles rifles in pistol relover in pistol etc... i love it when someone tells me that you cant get a .45 ACP revolver and i show em footage of jerry micelek or that 357 is only for revolvers and i point them at the Desert Eagle
and friends think im insane when i say i want an autoloader in .30 carbine like the IAI supermagIII
