Off the wall question, AK bullpup

Well, Century does, for all the screwups with CETME and WASR rifles over the years. It just looks interesting, relatively inexpensive, and unusual.

Took me looking at half a dozen to find one with a straight sight block and barrel!

I like the weird stuff and the price was typical of low end AKs so I bit. Nice thing is that the grip is curved on the bottom so 30 round mags rock in and out cleanly -- my Norinco bullpup is very hard to use with 30 round mags.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but its an AK, if you get one that is not obviously defective they should work. The sights on this WSAR bullpup are better than your average AK and way better than what is on the Norinco AK bullpup.

Basically I think its a major improvement over the Norinco bullpup, but never expect any bullpup to have a very good trigger -- its just one of the things you give up in compromise to get the barely legal overall length with a standard length barrel.

I have yet to shoot one, but I have handled two of them now. Overall, it's a very inferior bullpup. The ergonomics are all wrong, much worse than on a conventional AK. The sights are very, very high. When shouldered, the safety is back by your ear. The pistol grip is in the way of the magazine and the trigger stinks.

It does seem solid enough and I personally like the way they balance. When you compare one of these to a good bullpup like an AUG however, you realize how poor it is in comparison.

My biggest complaint was the crappy trigger, caused by the flexible wire connecting the relocated trigger to the rest of the FCG. I do not think that the trigger connector will last overly long, but I could be proven wrong.

The AKU-94 conversion is a piece of kit. They should be issued to the new Iraqi Army if they are looking for a new Assault Rifle/Upgrade.

I held one when they were just sold as kits perhaps 5-7 years ago. The guy had a drum on it, and that was a complete waste of time as the drum was very much in the way. It held well, but I didn't dry fire it. The front sight is way too thin and tall. I imagine it would take very little to break it off.

I own one...and its a really good AK,in fact the wife wanted it,shot it several times and it worked OK.Is it better than any other AK...I dont think so,but it did hit the 'paper target' yes,it did.

I've heard of many mentioning how 'hard the trigger is' but ours isnt 'that bad' but it is a harder squeeze than our other AK's.It ate, without fail, all the ammo put through it,each time.

Each to their own I guess...but I like it...

From looking at the online pictures, am I correct in making the following three assumptions?

1. Your cheek is going to be positioned over the area immediately behind the chamber, more or less?

2. That's a standard pressed-metal AK dustcover?

3. This thing was assembled by the drunken monkeys at Century?

You are correct. And I'd quote that sig line from falfiles about having an interesting obituary, and pipe fittings, but I'm too lazy to dig it up.

The other downside is that it seems to be an instant ticket to an oral surgeon if a southpaw tries to fire one. Steel bolt handle through jawbone...tasty.
