I've always thought it was especially dangerous to issue light sentences for sexual abuse or rape. First because it tells people its not a big deal, but also because it encourages vigilantism. I cant think of anything that would get me more emotional that the abuse or rape of a loved one. I really doubt I would accept a 60 weekend sentence as justice. I'm quite sure that officer would take a vacation he mysteriously never returns from.

Certainly this article showed that some of the people on the force were not trustworthy and that some men (of both orientations) are rapists. But did it show that all policemen are not trustworthy? Did it show that all men are potential rapists?

Very interesting, Pax, and oh so enlightened. But quite wrong-headed.


Not all fingers on trigger will cause NDs -- in fact it rarely happens, but we should NEVER have our finger on the trigger until we're ready to shoot.

Not all houses burn down, but we always buy fire insurance.

Not all strangers pose a threat to our young children (in fact few do, actually), but we teach them NEVER to talk to or get friendly with strangers.


Most men will NOT molest girls. But allowing men to be with girl scouts overnight is plain stupid.

Many homosexual men will not molest boys, (but they are FAR more likely to than straight men). Allowing them to be with boys overnight is just plain stupid.



Are you more interested in the "rights" of men or of homosexuals, or in not displaying "bigotry", or in looking good?

Or will you do what it takes to keep your children safe?

You pays your money and your takes your choice



It's not a question of ALL. If you are more interested in reality than in appearing enlightened -- then you know what the statistics are.




If someone hurt my daughter, I don't think I could wait for the "law", corrupt as it now is, to run its course.


But if my own stupidity contributed to her victimization, how would I ever look in the mirror?
