I'll second "Silent Running" by Mike & the Mechs.
:scrutiny:

Hopefully we can keep it from happening.....:uhoh:

Showing my age

Showing you my age...I vote for Nelson Eddy's "Stout Hearted Men." Back in the days.....black and white...musicals.:D :D

Well, there's always The Ballad of Irving -- the tragic tale of "the hundred and forty-second fastest gun, in the west." :D

How could I have forgotten that? I LOVE the 1812 Overture.

But you can't sing it, and when you play it, everybody thinks of Quaker (for ghods sake) Puffed Rice.

"This is the cereal that's shot from guns...."

Who don't like the policy of the company neither.:fire:

Seriously, I just heard AC/DCs "Shoot to Thrill" on the radio, and it reminded me how good a song it is, and how great it would be for THR.

Except for the "too many women, too many pills" part, this is a great song. Well, I guess lots of people here listen to Rush Limbaugh, so... nevermind.

AC-DC's Lyrics - Shoot To Thrill Lyrics

All you women who want a man of the street
But you don’t know which way you wanna turn
Just keep a coming and put your hand out to me
’cause I’m the one who’s gonna make you burn

I’m gonna take you down - down, down, down
So don’t you fool around
I’m gonna pull it, pull it, pull the trigger

Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women with too many pills
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, gonna fire at will

Yeah

I’m like evil, I get under your skin
Just like a bomb that’s ready to blow
’cause I’m illegal, I got everything
That all you women might need to know

I’m gonna take you down - yeah, down, down, down
So don’t you fool around
I’m gonna pull it, pull it, pull the trigger

Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women with too many pills
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, gonna fire at will
’cause I shoot to thrill, and I’m ready to kill
I can’t get enough, I can’t get the thrill
I shoot to thrill, play to kill
Yeah, pull the trigger

Pull it, pull it, pull it, pull the trigger

Oh

Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women, with too many pills
I said, shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, gonna fire at will
’cause I shoot to thrill, and I’m ready to kill
And I can’t get enough, and I can’t get my thrill
’cause I shoot to thrill, play it again

Yeah

Shoot you down

Yeah
I’m gonna get you to the bottom and shoot you
I’m gonna shoot you
Oh hoo yeah yeah yeah

I’m gonna shoot you down yeah yeah
I’m gonna get you down
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Shoot you, shoot you, shoot you, shoot you down
Shoot you, shoot you, shoot you down

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ooooooh

I’m gonna shoot to thrill
Play to kill
Shoot to thrill

Yeah, ooh yeah

I would second the Metallica tune "Don't tread on Me" on the short list.
Skunk, you're a genius.
Check out Iced Earth's CD The Glorious Burden. There are several songs that would be perfect.

"I got tears in my ears from lyin' on my back cryin' over you"

Old hillbilly tune from the 50's and totally apropos when you see that beautiful, brand spankin' new -------------(insert your choice)----------- at the gunshop that you can't afford to buy.

:D

Wow! a BM! (Baader-Mienhof Phenomenon) It's when you encounter something for the first time, kinda file it away mentally, and then within 24 hrs., hear about it again. Has to be something that's been around a while, not today's news. The local paper runs a column that coined the term.
Anyhoo, grampster, I just heard about that tune on the Russian Mosin Nagant forum last night, and, BAM, there it is! I know your pain. The poster on that forum is waiting for his C&R license, as am I. Apropos indeed!:D

The Star Spangled Banner

...woodstock version...JMHendrix

muccawhore.gif

Fourth verse of the Star Spangled Banner as rendered so magnificently in the football stadium sequence in Sum of All Fears with very aggressive drums.

...And conquer we must,
For our cause it is just...

At least once a month I watch that movie just to hear that.

The only thing that I can think of that might improve it would be bagpipes.

THR music

Go to TKO Records,"Punchdrunk"compilation,volume 1.
Track 24,by Peter and the Test Tube Babies, the song "1,4,7,1"
It's old school punk of the Oi-pub music variety....IT ROCKS!!!

follow up

Oh,and lest I forget, The Circle Jerks,"WTSHTF","Repo Man "soundtrack version....somehow thast lounge scene just stuck in my head.....yeah I know,I'm having a Rasputin moment....

But you can't sing it, and when you play it, everybody thinks of Quaker (for gods sake) Puffed Rice

:scrutiny: Wha? I guess that must be before my time... You're right, however; You can't sing the 1812 Overture... but damn, it's so cool.

Anybody ever heard On the Border by The Eagles? Not exactly gun related, but politically related enough to be thought provoking.

Cruisin' down the center of a two way street
Wond'rin' who is really in the driver's seat
Mindin' my bus'ness along comes big brother
Says, Son, you better get on one side or the other.
I'm out on the border, I'm walkin' the line
Don't you tell me 'bout your law and order
I'm try'n' to change this water to wine.
After a hard day, I'm safe at home
Foolin' with my baby on the telephone
Out of nowhere somebody cuts in and
Says, Hmm, you in some trouble boy, we know where you're been.
I'm out on the border
I thought this was a private line
Don't you tell me 'bout your law and order
I'm try'n' to change this water to wine
Never mind your name, just give us your number, mm
Never mind your face, just show us your card, mm
And we wanna know whose wing are you under
You better step to the right or we can make it hard
I'm stuck on the border
All I wanted was some peace of mind
Don't you tell me 'bout your law and order
I'm try'n' to change this water to wine
On the border
On the border
On the border
On the border
On the border
Leave me be , I'm just walkin' this line
On the border
On the border
All I wanted was some peace of mind, peace of mind
I'm out on the border
On the border
Can't you see I'm tryin to change this water to wine
Don't you tell me 'bout your law and order
Sick and tired of all your law and order
Sick and tired of it

I can't remember the artist but there is a Texas folksinger that has a song called The Gringo Pistolero. Some of you guys here know who he is but the name escapes me and I'm at work so can't check.Good song though. The fella carries colt autos and uses a springfield in the song.A part of it goes "with a red tear from a third eye...."Dang,wish I could remember more.

Motor - T the singer songwriter you are thinking of is Allen Wayne Damron. I am proud to call Allen my friend. If you'll PM me with your e-mail I'll forward it on to Allen and get him to send you info on ordering CD's. But in the meantime, the full verse you're thinking of is...

Roll your sight up to 800 and hold a yard left for the wind.
There's one, by God,Aviso that will never flash again.
Weeping red tears from a third eye is a gift he cannot feel,
From the Springfield of the Gringo Pistolero!

Another good verse comes later when he enters the jachal where the bandits are holding Sra. Otero.

Angry cuthroats said, "Ignore the weeping Lady on the floor!"
And through the back door came the Gringo Pistolero.

Big Colt autos spitting thunder death at everything that moved
Flashing lightening in a jachal long and narrow.
Ending hate and greed and cruelty with final flying truth
From the sure hand of the Gringo Pistolero.

One hot and smoking pistol dropped down empty in the dirt
And another flashed like magic from inside the Gringo's shirt.
And the lead storm never stopped 'til there was noone left unhurt.
But the Lady and the Gringo Pistolero.

Allen has many wonderful songs about shooting and the old west and the new west. If you ever have a chance to hear him perform in person, please don't miss it. He usually tells great stories between songs.
