All I have to say is that I am jealous of all of you with wives that like to shoot. Hell I would buy my wife that hideous Desert Eagle with the tiger stripe design if she woudl shoot it.

I toohave mixed feelings on Glocks. I actually don't think they are all that ugly but I am not all that crazy about shooting polymer guns. I just tend to prefer the feel of cold steel in my hands. However, I know I will end up with a Glock or 5 someday.

Could be that the shop guy's answer to the recoil question "convinced" her that the G17 was a better fit. I don't notice any recoil differences in the G17, G19, or G26. The Glock's polymer frame and low bore axis do a great job of handling recoil.

The same exact thing happened when I took my lovely g/f out shopping for her first handgun. I'd leaned toward a SIG P239 and figured she'd really like that......nope. The only gun she really liked was the G19/G23. So, we have matching ones now. Even though I'm first and foremost a SIG man, I have to say I REALLY like the Glock now and I do more and more everyday.

If she turns to you and here eyes are flaming red and she is speaking to you in a language you have never heard before, smile and back away slowly.

If this is the case, then methinks the Glock may be the least of your worries!!!

You may have to fill the hot tub with Holy Water and chuck her in!!

Also check the kids for cloven feet, budding horns, forked tongues, and spiked tails!! :D

You guys are a hoot. If she's set on a Glock, I think the G19 would be a better choice. If she likes it she may want to carry it and it conceals easier. I like its compact size better than the G17, but she liked the way the G17 balanced and the way the grip felt. I was just the opposite and I have large hands and she has small. She just liked the G17 better. What will probably happen is she'll want a G26 to replace her snubby down the road. I still can't figure her out, never will, so I should just stop trying. :)

If you could figure her out, the biggest problem you'd have would be finding a wheelbarrow large enough to take your weekly earnings to the bank. :)

our range officer with his Glock 26 in .45, he says to me, Hmmm, you're getting pretty good with that .45, here try this. We were shooting at 25 yards. The mini Glock was brand new and I thought in .45 it was going to be a handful with LOTS of recoil. Thinking my first shot would go high, I aimed low to compensate. Well the first shot went low, right where I aimed. After that, I shot POA/POI and it scared me. The little .45 was damned good.

Glock 26 in .45...? :uhoh:

Only suprising thing to me in this whole thread is someone liking the sights. I can't use the stock sights worth a hoot. I ended up getting some JP Custom Double Ring sights for my Glock 24P.

I've shot a 21 with Heinie Straigh 8s and I did better than with an HK Tactical on the same trip. I just can't hold a good group with the "dot in bucket". I wouldn't hesitate to use a Glock as a CCW, but I still prefer my CZs :)

"Glock 26 in .45...?"

Sorry Harold it was a Glock 30. Not owning nor wanting any Glocks, I sometimes get the model numbers wrong. That may change, however. I was impressed with how the G30 shot and the trigger didn't bother me.

RE: Chicks Love Glocks!

I hear and even share your agony. Myself, having spent alot of money on Glocks, only to find that I really don't care for polymer framed pistols in general.

My Financee wanted a pistol. We tried a Taurus seven-shot .357 for starters. She couldn't hit very well with it and
she felt it too heavy for her to shoot. Trying my CZ collection, she liked the
CZ83 the best, but still liked the looks and feel of the GLOCK 26 my Mother shoots.

The minute she seen a GLOCK 19 with Nites, she said. This is THE ONE..
and I went ARGH! OK Honey..You know the rest of the story guys:(

She does shoot it often and does well with it. Had I insisted that she
get a gun that I liked..I doubt if she would have been happy with a
PCR or a SIG 239. She also made the comment that her Dad collected guns and she always thought that Springfield meant a 'cheap gun' so the
third choice of an XD was ruled out.

Nowdays, she always points out Glocks in movies such as Bruce Willis'
Glock 26 in an ankle holster during HOSTAGE. Those red rubber bands
just slay me!!

Hmm... pretty cool.

Glocks are great pistols, I'm a little surprised that she felt the G17 was better fitting for her than the G19.

I tried out the whole Full size vs. compact deal when I was looking at Glocks, and the fullsize pistol absolutely did not fit me. The finger grooves were spaced out more than the compacts and made the gun uneasy to grip for me.

I have a G23 that I absolutely love... but it takes me some time to get used to it. Since its your wife's first autoloader, I'm sure she'll like the gun quite a lot.

Good luck.
