I was just brushing up on my local firearms law (I'm in the UK).

It turns out that the Act of Parliament that banned all handguns over here is called the "Firearms (Amendment) (No.2) Act 1997".

Ouch...:barf:

British Second Amendment

So . . . in a kind of mirror-reflection Bizarro-World bit of law, the British Second Amendment has wording somewhere in it that reads . . . (speculating) . . .
. . . the right to keep and bear arms shall henceforth be infringed.

Yeah. That's some fine irony.

A good vintage bottle of that should be good for pickling. Or fish & chips.

One day, I will visit America. I will go to a range, and get my grubby little mitts on a pistol... And There Will Be Squealings Of Glee...

On a side note, it's so bonkers over here that a Scottish MP was expelled from his party because while on holiday in Pakistan many moons ago, he had the gall to have a go with an AK...

As soon as I have the funds, I'm outta here.

Time for the Brits to revolt against THEIR oppressors, I'd say. Once the people are disarmed...well, history is clear what happens next. Good luck.

During WWII, we sent rifles to Brits to help them protect their homeland. Now that there's peace, they need those arms more than ever. How sad.

Yeah, and after the war, they dumped them in The Channel. We need to start an Underground Railroad to help British firearms owners emigrate to America (with their guns). Same for Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Bitter?

Not particularly.

Tired of my homeland? Hell yes.

England has a history to be proud of, but the present sucks, and it's getting worse by the day.

And as a single individual, I have no means of recourse other than to become a politician, and work my way to being prime minister. Which, y'know, doesn't particularly appeal....:banghead:

I'm going to stop now. If I carry on I'll start to rant...:uhoh:

Oh, about those rifles: Thank you. And sorry about that dumping thing (cue another rant about my government...)

So wait wait, I know this one...

This is the part where you get angry and get in a boat, but you stop in Portugal to get some stuff, then you go to India, but they don't have the right spices so you go along the coastline to Plymouth Rock and have Thanksgiving?

Then we burn witches?

Umm... Quite Possibly? :scrutiny::confused:

Forgive my slow-wittedness (trawling through a nasty college assignment on the minutiae of health and safety legislation will do that to you) but I don't think I get the reference...

However, if Thanksgiving means food, I'm all for it! :D

He's referring the the voyage of the Pilgrims. They also fled England - to avoid religious persecution.

Ditto that if you get to the San Jose area. Rifle ammo is more expensive.

Some people will never stop being bitter.

Some people will never stop being bitter.

I'm not following. No one has mentioned anything about being bitter toward the Brits or anyone else. Everyone seems to feel bad that the British citizenry has to live under the oppressive rule of a handgun ban. Nothing more... nothing less.

Whenever you're in CA, we'll go to the range and head out to the pub (my backyard with a cooler full of Coronas).

Better yet come to a state like Nevada where you can have some real fun, like fire a 50 BMG or rent a machine gun and really have a go at it. Any one of the states that trusts it citizens with firearms.

Believe it or not you can actually get a .50 BMG rifle over here - if you are particularly lucky.

As long as they're bolt action, and you have a very... understanding local firearms dept.

If I can think up a believable reason (Culling Rabid Zombie Wild Boar, maybe?) I might just try to fill a slot on my FAC when it comes through (only six-ish months to go! Yaay!)

Jeez.....hey anyone interested in starting a business with me?

My vision is this. We put together tour packages for interested Brits that
will take them to the many historical and natural wonders of the U.S. in addition to talks on firearm safety and function followed with stops at shooting ranges along the way.

I can hear it now ...."I hope you enjoyed the Grand Canyon, now I'm going to demonstrate how this 12 gauge pump shotgun is operated....." ;)

Let me know when your business is up and running!:)

You should be fine so long as you can convince them you have somewhere to shoot a 50 cal for target practice A guy at my club has a Steyr .50 BMG including some tracer rounds to sight it in - very nice it is too but very very expensive: over £3500.00!!
