Ive got a Glock 22 and a Glock 27. I've cleaned the 22 once after about 300 rounds and only about 50 rounds through the 27 without cleaning. (yes I know shame on me, one reason I got Glocks)

Anyway I'm going to be shooting more often and want to start taking care of them better. I have Hoppes solvent for the bore, and Breakfeee CLP for the rest. According to the manual it needs exactly 5 drops of oil on strategic spots.

Now my question is what's a good high quality oil to use ?

Thanks

They only need about 3 small drops total on the friction points between the slide and frame. Most any oil will work.

Maybe I got the wrong stuff, my CLP is in an aerosol can. Makes it hard to put a drop. I can use the CLP to clean everything but in the bore right?

CLP is in an aerosol can. Makes it hard to put a drop.

Spray a small amount into a puddle in a bottle cap or similar receptacle.
Use a paper clip, small nail, pipette from CLP can, or whatever to dip in the puddle.
The CLP will adhere to the object.
Use the object to wipe the CLP on whatever surface needs "a drop of oil."

I do about the same as what has mostly been posted on the barrel etc, and the inside if I have a buildup of powder residue. On the slide I use copper anti seize, same as what comes in it from the factory.

I can use the CLP to clean everything but in the bore right?
CLP stands for "Cleans, Lubes, Protects".

That means you can clean the bore with it too.

It was developed for the U.S. military as an all purpose, do everything cleaner & lubricant for the M-16 rifle.

Only thing you can't use it for is brushing your teeth.

I use hoppes for cleaning the entire gun bore and all.
i use rem oil on my glocks and have been for a long time and i've never had any problems. How ever i've been considering changing to militec oil, its highly recommended by everyone i talk to about good gun lubricants

CLP works great for all my guns....as the name implies it will clean and lube.

As far as cleaning your Glock....I wouldn't be ashamed of how much you've been cleaning. I regularly go 500-1000 rounds in between cleanings. Just keep it (very) lightly lubed and you'll not have any problems.

Just used the CLP to clean both Glocks. Was really easy :)

I was using waaay too much oil before. Was oiling every metal piece in the frame :(

Dipped the pipette in a puddle and it worked great. Going to range tomorrow :)

Thanks again.

Glocks are perfection... no oil needed. LOL

Oil a Glock pretty much like any other Semi-auto.

While on the topic of cleaning my pistols (first two I've owned) Here's a pic of the cleaning tools i have

The bore brush is what came with my pistol. The other 3 are what came in a little kit i picked up. I can use the two on the left, but the one on the right is too large even though the kit was for .40/10mm Do I need to get a different piece to push the cloths through? I was using the one with the hole and the small one but I don't think that's right.

I use a patch holder (the one with the loop) as I find them more convenient than a Jag.

I do use Jags occasionally though. Make sure you have the right size patch or they are very hard to use.

The large Jag (thanks, didn't know that was what they were called ) will not fit down barrel without a patch.

So after the bore brush just the patch holder will be good enough? I was using the large patches that came in the kit, maybe 2" square?

Yes, use the patch holder or smaller Jag. The patches are the correct size.

It's personal preference.

The large Jag may be a .44 cal.

Yeah but I've been on other forums where the standard reply to any question is "Use the F***ing search button"

Nice to find a place with helpful people.

There is no gun cleaning tool on this earth I despise more than the archetypal "jag."

A smart fella will wrap a patch around a worn bore brush, and work that with little effort.

It drives me absolutely crazy to see people pounding insanely-tight jag/patch rigs through a barrel.
Only a fool.
