I found a used King water stone. It's in great condition but must have been used with oil instead of water as it is slick on the surface and water just beads up instead of forming a slurry.
Anyone know of a good way to de-grease it and not harm the stone ?

Try using a mild degreaser like simple green?

Let it soak for a bit in a mild simple green/ water solutinon and rinse/ repeat?

I've had trouble with Simple Green leaving a residue sometimes.

Haven't harmed a stone yet with brake cleaner.

Put it on a gas grill someplace you don't think you'll be putting food (like on a square of foil). Cook the bejabbers out of it on medium heat. The oil will cook out and smell like the underside of an old pickup. Then soak it in a solvent like acetone or zylene.

For de-greasing purposes all I ever use is simple mineral spirits (the stuff I use the most comes labeled as "paint thinner"). Drop the item(s) into a mineral spirits bath for a day and you'll clean it of any oils or grease just fine. Allow to dry thoroughly then put it into something like simple green to remove any solvent residue (I assume that a water stone will be used with food prep - I use one in my kitchen and another for fish cleaning knives on my skiff). My oil stones stay in the shop....
