Ok, I have fired several guns and i really like the ruger p89 and p95. I also like the baby eagle and the cz75. My question is how reliable as far as jamming and such are they compared to say a glock?

I can't post from any personal expiriance (I can pick up my p89 tonight hopefully ). But, from the countless reviews and internet searches I have read, it seems that, barring rare exceptions, both the p89 and p95 are extremely reliable. In addition, my brother in law never had any problems with his cz75 he's had for years, and same with his brother's p89 (his is the reason I bought my own).

I've shot my buddy's Baby Eagle and it was jamming machine. I just picked up a CZ75B and have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but I'll report back on it by Saturday I hope. I have a Walther P99 which has never jammed or misfed in about 1500 rounds. The Baby Eagle of my friend has more rounds thru it than mine and has been a jam-o-matic since the beginning. Never shot the Rugers before.

I had one of the new kp95 by with the light rail and all that cool stuff. I bought it because i wanted a good reliable, durable 9mm pistol that would primarialy be a range gun, but could also be used in a self defense role if need be. I put about 600rds through mine of wwb 115gr, american eagle 115gr, 147gr wwb jhp, and 115gr blaser brass. I didn't have a single hicc-up. i liked it alot. it had the new textured grip, light rail, three dot sights like i love. It pointed so naturally. I got rid of it and bought something different, but that was for a few reasons that had nothing to do with the accuracy , reliability, or durability of the gun at all. they are great guns at a good price.

Main reasons I got rid of it.
1) I reconfirmed the belief that I am a DAO kinda guy and don't nuch care
for da/sa pistols.
2) The grip was ok but a little big for me, it didn't fit me like i thought at first.
3) the way the slide release sticks out i would always inadvertanly trip the slide stop and the slide wouldn't stay back. but that is because of the technique i use when i shoot. Glocks and my xd work fine for me.
4) it was an impulse buy and not what i really wanted at the time.
5) it had an ambi mag release but the way it was made i couldn't use my right pointer finger like i do on my xd during quick reloads.

That is about it, I liked it but there are other things out there that fit me better and that is why i got rid of it. If it feels right and good to you in your hand and you don't mind da/sa, and the slide release dosen't get in your way than i think you will like it. mags are cheap and they are alot of fun to shoot. good luck and let us know what you get!

I've had a P95 for a while and probably put over a thousand rounds through it with no problems whatsoever. I also ordered a Mec-Gar magazine that holds 17 rounds and still sits flush in the gun. I've fired several boxes of ammo through it and it also works flawlessly. The Ruger is a very reliable gun and pretty cheap, but it's also heavy like all Rugers.

I've heard that the Baby Eagles jam a lot and I don't know about the CZ 75.

yeah i bought two after market pro mag 15rd mags because my pistol came with 10rd mags, and they all worked just fine the factory and the pro mags.

I've fired ~1500 rounds through my KP95. No jams, FFS, ever, except for one aftermarket (sportsmansguide el cheapo, not Mecgar) mag that consistently fails on the last round. It's probably the follower or the spring or both.
One thing to consider is the availability of a mag compatible carbine. The P89 mags fit the P95, as well as the P93 and P94 AND the PC-9 Carbine.

The last thing to consider is that since they're such tanks (looks aren't everything) the Ruger P's can be used to bludgeon a BG when you're out of ammo. As much as the CZ's are elegantly beautiful, they're less useful as clubs, IMHO :D

(in no way should one interpret this to mean I don't want a CZ; the RAMI, P01, 75, 75 Compact, and 83 are all on my wish list)

I have 3 different all steel Baby Eagle models. All 3 have been 100% reliable. No problems of any kind whatsover. Very ergonomic and very accurate.

I've had a variety of Ruger P series in the past and currently have a KP94 in 9mm and a KP97 in 45. I had 1 failure to properly feed in the KP97 in total...covering all Rugers.

Only CZ I have experience with is the 40 caliber 40P model. Haven't had it that long. Had a number of failures to feed with the first 20 or so rounds fired. Then it worked itself out and it has been perfectly reliable since. Also very ergonomic and very accurate.

I've shot a Ruger P89 & the Baby Eagle 9 mm. They seem both be very reliable & dependable. Of the two, I would give the Baby Eagle the accuracy & ergo nod ;)

I have a Ruger KP89D, KP93 and CZ 75BD and SP-01 Tactical. As far as reliability, they are all top notch. Rugers are known for being relentless when it comes to firing -- they're like the Energizer Bunny of autoloaders. Unfortunately, Bill Ruger wasn't out to win any beauty contests when he designed the P-series pistols. So as much as I like them, if I had to choose I'd go with a CZ. They're a little easier to handle, smaller grip and a bit better balanced.

When you compare the value of a Ruger or CZ to other "top end" handguns, you really can't go wrong. If you want something sexy, buy a Sig X5. If you want a work horse that will go all day long and never skip a beat, then Ruger or CZ will fit the bill for hundreds of dollars less.

Just my $0.02...

Have two Ruger P95 DCs and a P97DC. 1600 thru the stainless one and no burps yet.Even the Silverbear 145gr and 115gr loads function well.Winchester WB Wallyworld 115gr. work well to.Ruger shooters in this part of the Nanny State like the P89.Big,blocky but totally reliable. So far.Just jinxed it.Oh,well.P.S. CZs work well to .See above posts of other members. This post will self destruct in 5 days.

I like my Ruger P89. I haven't had one bit of trouble with it. I know fore sure it has over 2500 round.s through it.

My dad has a P89, I've had a P95 and a CZ P-01.

We have had NO jams of any kind with any of them. The P89 has about 7k rounds through it, the P-95 had 9-10k rounds, and the P-01 has had about 2k rounds through it.

IMHO, you can buy all 3 with confidence.

Hope this helps,

Nearing 1000 rounds on my Baby Eagle with no malfunctions of any kind. It is far more accurate than I will ever be. Ergonomics are great but I may look into some grip panels with more grip to them.

I want to get my CHL soon, I can really only afford one right now. Any other suggestions. I dont have alot of experience with autoloaders, basically i would like one that i can use at the range, HD and concealed carry.
