But has anyone ever tried to attach a supperssor to BP Handgun?

I agree, it wouldn't be very effective after it became fouled up with all that BP residue.

Well, the first thing about a suppresor is; they don't work well with revolvers.
There is a gap between the cylinder and the barrel that would allow a lot of sound to escape. I know if you watch a lot of TV -- especially old TV, like Mannix, Naked City, The F.B.I. and others, you may have seen a lot of "silenced" revolvers, usually snubbies.
That's TV. They don't use real suppressors even when they have semiautos -- they have a phoney prop and dub in the sound, which is why people who do know what suppressed weapons sound like often complain about the fact the TV show is not realistic.
The best BP gun to try to silence would be a muszzle loading single shot.
But, you'd still mess the silencer up very quickly, as the 2nd poster said .....

On a side note that is off topic, there is a revolver that can be effectively silenced. It is an old Russian Nagant revolver. The cartridge goes into the barrel at bit when cocked and expands outward when firing sealing the gap between the barrel and cylinder.

Anyways on topic, a black powder revolver can't be silenced all that well.

They are absolutely forbidden in Holland and therefore a great way to loose your gun license.
If you want to fiddle with supressors, make sure they are legal in France.

I suspect that even though it is on a muzzleloader, due to the fact that it is a supressor, you may find yourself in deep trouble with the federal government( unless it is registered and you live in a state that allows the ownership of a supressor)

Speaking theoretically, I suppose that you could make a supressor for a muzzleloader. I would have to imagine that the device would have to be extra large to accommodate the added smoke and unburned material. In addition, it would have to be of a construction that could be easily cleaned.

Hildo.. Silencers are absolutely legal in France for all guns irrespective of caliber.

I picked one up for my .22 Lr Rifle for under 40 Euros... It isnt very effective but does a reduce the sound by about 50% with subsonic ammo.

I am however not about to try and thread one of my Precious BP revolvers to try and fit a silencer... was a completely rhetorical question. :)

The Traditions .45 Buckhunter Pro does have a model
where the barrel is threaded for a muzzle break, and I
suppose one could be added to just about any gun to
reduce muzzle rise, or even magna-porting the barrel.
Any added suppressor would make it long like this, right? :D
