who makes it?

price seems a bit high, but then again high powers are not as common as they used to be. Since I love HPs, I would say get it barring any new information.

I guess I would say it is a good price for a decent MK III era pistol. If an older one without much collector status then it seems high.

Is is shiny blue with wood stocks or the matte finish and plastic stocks?

At that price you are getting towards the relm of a new one from someplace like budsgunshop.com, but if it is nice and right in front of you it may very well be worth it.

Avoid the adjustable sights. They depress the resale value. The stock fixed sights on a MK III are more than adequate for high speed use or target practice.

Does this gun have the tiny thumb safety? This is really not a handy safety for carry in the cocked and locked mode.

I would have thought the opposite on the rear sight. I have an older one, from 76 with the adjustable rear sight and it has the tiny thumb safety. Can I upgrade to the newer style safety?

It is easy to upgrade to the newer safety.

On the topic of the sights: I also like the fixed sights as long as they are the high visibility type. The ones from the early years just dont cut it for me. It doesnt so much depress the resale value as it is just an overpriced option that people are not going to pay for on the used market making the adjustable sights a little less of a value. Those adjustable sights are hideous on a good day too. THey stuck up so high on the slide its a wonder there was ever a holster made to fit it.
